Given his well documented history, why would anyone trust Trump's word on anything?
I challenged right-wingers I know on that one, and not one of them can produce a logical answer other than false equivalencies: "Hillary is a crook," as if that somehow means Trump isn't, or outright insane lies, such as "Obama is a Muslim/Atheist who hates America and who secretly sold ICBM's to ISIS, so I gotta vote for Trump to beat him!" or some lunacy. Not one of them has ever been able to justify voting for Trump with anything more than partisan silliness.

If Trump ran as a Democrat, not a single member of Cult 45 who worships him today and who right-washes history to justify his actions and their voting mistakes would have voted for him. It's just such transparent, tribal childishness on the part of the right, as usual.

The dems know how bad this looks, so they try to blame the Republicans, and Trump.

People remember the Schumer shutdown, and remember why they shut down the government.

The Reps are apparently incapable of understanding the difference between coming here illegally and being[ brought here illegally. By their (il)logic if a parent takes their baby shopping in a stroller and places shoplifted goods in the stroller the baby should be charged, convicted, and jailed.

WHERE was any such thing mentioned other than in your fertile imagination?

Are you really so unaware that you don't understand that when a contentious matter is being debated Congress may choose to present their plan to the POTUS and if he disagrees, not even bring it to a vote?

I wonder if one took the time to go through the full history and process how many right-wing hater-mongers are, themselves, descendants of people who came here through quasi-legal means back when that was far easier to do. Maybe we should round them all up and ship them back to some nation in which they have no legal standing and where they don't even speak the language?

Nah... I wouldn't wish a shipment of such people on any nation.

Yep. Trump and the GOP have prioritized US Citizens and LEGAL immigrants.

The Dems have prioritized illegal aliens OVER US Citizens and LEGAL immigrants.

The American public is smart enough to recognize who has their back and who doesn't (the Dems). The Dems just committed political suicide.

Can he sign something into law that hasn’t been passed by Congress?

Yep! I recognize the Reps have the corporations' backs with their permanent tax breaks while average citizens are thrown a meatless bone with breaks having an expiration date.

Of course not!

But Congress can certainly decide to not bring an issue to a vote if they're told by the POTUS he/she won't sign it into law.

WHAT part of that is confusing you so badly?

Are you really so naive as to believe everything that happens in Washington is put down on paper?

So the Democrats and the Republicans got together and, in good faith, put together exactly what the president asked for. It was supported by both sides, and it would have easily passed with well in excess of 60 votes.

But when they brought the president exactly what he asked for, he reneged on the deal.

How will the Republicans be able to trust the president going forward, knowing that anything he says today he could change his mind on tomorrow on a whim, after they have done the hard work to try to accommodate him?
We know the meaning of words like "exactly".

Define exactly: in a manner or measure or to a degree or number that strictly conforms to a fact or condition.

Really we do, as you can see.

Healthy President Trump expressed exactly the conditions needing to be met. It was not brought to him.
