He wanted a military parade for his inauguration and was told the streets wouldn't handle the weight of the tanks.

Good god, how stupid.

We're Americans, not pompous goose-stepping show-offs. Leave that crap to wannabe dictators and banana republics. Our military men have actual work to do and nothing to prove...especially with archaic displays of power.

WOW...another unnamed source, somewhere within the the depths of the meetings...

But what I find really amusing of the cool little article is the following:

Quote:
“The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France,†said a military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the planning discussions are supposed to remain confidential. “This is being worked at the highest levels of the military.â€
And then left RUNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I call BS on the entire thing, but hey, who knows, this mysterious person could be correct, maybe, sorta, well, we hope...

In the next stupid story, trump can launch nuclear missiles by reaching under his bed and hitting the "nuke" button...

Oh hell ... the Chumpster just wants an excuse to bring all that military might to the streets of D.C. so he can then take over the town in a flashy coup that will top the ratings charts ...

The biggest displays any autocrat/dictator wants to see/show is a huge military presence all marching to his tune. Lot's of loud planes overhead, 10s of thousands of troops all "eyes right" as they pass his reviewing stand, with lots of tanks and missile carriers.

Everybody but Trump seems to know that "One should never go full retard" it seems.

Great reader comments on the WAPO site.

Reminds me of the parade in Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes".

Perhaps Trump could emulate the Emperor and lead the parade, since his asperations appear inclined in imperial directions. I am sure many designers would delight in creating his dress uniform for the occasion.

Kelly said that "they've been discussing it for several weeks" now.
