That's assuming that all 220,000 of those new folks moved in. At least some of them were born in Oklahoma, through no fault of their own..

Republicans are between a rock and a hard place on this issue. Support for legalization is bipartisan, especially among younger voters. Legal marijuana also fits nicely with the rest of their platform, especially small government and states rights. The War on Drugs is the opposite of "small government." They do have one problem though; the Christian Right is still strongly opposed to legalization and as evangelical leaders go, so goes the GOP. I think evangelical opposition to it deep down is more cultural than Biblical.

What do you think?
I think marijuana should be legalized because prohibition doesn't work and causes crime, but federal legalization of marijuana doesn't have a chance in hell during this administration.

It's got more of a chance than it did under Obama.

No surprise the Prison industrial complex contributes heavenly to Democrats.

I don't think Trump actually cares that much one way or the other. He has said he supports medical marijuana - yes, I know, he has also said he doesn't stand by what he says, but I'm just trying to discern his state of mind.

I think it depends on who he appoints as AG after he fires Sessions (and you KNOW that's coming).

trump is very against drugs and alcohol, probably due to his very loved older brother's early death from alcoholism. I don't see trump signing any bill legalizing marijuana. not for religious reasons, but personal ones.

I am a Trump supporter, pretty far right on some views. I think marijuana should be legalized. The new Republican party needs to get on board with this, or they will risk alienating White millennials. Trump doesn't even care about marijuana, it's a non issue. The only ones who complain about marijuana are uptight Mormons and establishment type Republicans.

Wrong. It's the Christian Right that's primarily responsible for continued prohibition. That is why I don't think there's a chance in hades that it happens during this administration. You have to keep the theocrats happy.

That's not to say that the private prison lobby and Big Pharma don't play a part in trying to preserve the status quo, but the primary reason it's still illegal is because it offends the Baptists.
