John Kapoor, the greedy billionaire directly responsible for addicting thousands to fentanyl, and the resultant deaths, is indicted, but will he ever see jail time?

'The CEO of drug giant Insys Therapeutics bribed doctors to prescribe more opioids to patients who didn’t even need them, according to federal authorities who arrested the executive after a raid on Thursday—a major offensive in the battle against America’s opioid epidemic.

John Kapoor, the billionaire founder and CEO, led “a nationwide conspiracy to profit by using bribes and fraud to cause the illegal distribution of a fentanyl spray intended for cancer patients experiencing breakthrough pain,” the Department of Justice said in a statement.

Kapoor and other company executives were allegedly part of a conspiracy to bribe practitioners in several states to get them to prescribe the fentanyl-based Subsys nasal spray, which is “extremely dangerous and addictive,” Philip Coyne of the Department of Health and Human Services–Office of the Inspector General said in a statement.'

Maybe

However, isn't their a saying about going to prison if you kill one person, and getting a war memorial if you kill a million?

These drug companies and their management, their sales staff, and even doctors and pharmacies have the blood of hundreds of thousands on them.

Further, the people in charge of the Federal government want to place the blame on personal choice.

Trump and Sessions want to get tough on marijuana, how about we get tough on the people responsible for tens of thousands of deaths each year?

Ownership of a Congressman or two does have its rewards.

Public Education Efforts...
People are going to do what they want. That's called liberty.
Educate the people what is what and all the differences and how bad it is to confuse the 2.

I'm sure that John Kapoor made a similar argument, namely that it's up to the patient to decide whether or not to continue the drug - kinda like giving someone a hit of crack, then saying 'it's up to you whether or not to order another one'.

I'm heading over to his restaurant to try the crab cakes in fentanyl sauce - I hear it's 'to die for'...

Curious. Why just the spray manufacture?

All other forms are dangerously addictive too.

"billionaire" and "jail time"?

Nope. He gets the High Court. If he'd been a criminal, he'd be poorer and darker skinned.

It's the bum on the street with 25 Vicodin who gets the Low Court - the one where we lock people away for decades to increase the value of Jeff Sessions' portfolio.

When a Billionaire Drug Exec Arrested for His Role in the Opioid Crisis Threatens to Sue You

https://splinternews.com/when-a-bill...n-t-1820045049

'Last week, President Donald Trump declared America’s opioid crisis a public health emergency, but another and perhaps even more meaningful part of the story happened more than 2,000 miles away in a wealthy gated community in Phoenix, AZ.

That’s where federal agents arrested Dr. John Kapoor, the billionaire founder and former CEO of Insys Therapeutics. Kapoor is the highest-ranking pharmaceutical executive to be criminally charged in the history of America’s deadliest drug epidemic. It’s a mighty fall from where he stood just a few short years ago, when his company became a Wall Street darling, described as the “Best IPO of 2013” by CNBC and Fox Business.

Nearly two years before federal agents showed up at the door of Kapoor’s multi-million dollar home, Fusion correspondent Mariana van Zeller sat outside the same estate as part of our investigation “Death by Fentanyl,” which tracked two main sources of the drug: criminal groups, like Mexican drug cartels, and pharmaceutical companies, particularly Insys Therapeutics, which we discovered was using questionable marketing practices to sell its fentanyl spray, Subsys.

Our investigation premiered on Fusion on January 31, 2016. A few weeks later, Kapoor’s lawyers sent us a letter demanding we take down our stories and our documentary immediately and issue a correction.'
