Boy, what is this country coming to when a political party cannot violates the Constitution and ensure their candidates always win???? That can't be what democracy is about!!!
.
Ensure their candidate always win??? Tom Wolf is a Democrat won governorship in 2014 so your post is a lie. Gov Tom Wolf is up for reelection in 2018 so this is just in time. They were calling Tom Wolf a one term governor. This is obviously to ensure a Tom Wolf reelection.
When Tom Wolf came into office the first year he refused to sign a budget (for over a year) unless he got tax increases (on everyone). If it were not for the Republicans fighting against his tax increases Pennsylvanians would be paying higher taxes. With this change he may get re-elected and taxes will go up in PA.
Ensure their candidate always win??? Tom Wolf is a Democrat and he is now governor. Of course he's up for re-electon in 2018 so this is just in time.
When Tom Wolf came into office the first thing out the gate is he held up the budget for over a year because he wanted to raise taxes on everyone. If it were not for the Republicans he would have succeeded. They were calling Tom Wolf a one term governor. With this change he may get re-elected.
Except that gerrymandering has no effect on stateside elections...
The map was first gerrymanders by the Republican majority lawmakers; now it's gerrymandered by the Democrat majority Judges. It won't be "fair" until it is drawn up by a nonpartisan entity using citizen population numbers only; no party registrations, racial make ups, or other demographics.
Except the realigned districts are not gerrymandered, if that were the case it could be challenged.

In second budget proposal, Gov. Tom Wolf (Democrat) again seeks tax hikes. Starting with the gridlock he left off with last year, Gov. Tom Wolf budget for 2016-17 — one that again seeks higher taxes on workers, smokers, natural gas drillers and others, plus new taxes on some consumer purchases, such as a 6 percent tax on cable television and movie tickets.
Pennsylvanians Facing Historic Tax Increases with Democrat Gov. Wolf's New Budget
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) presented his first budget, which includes the largest state tax increase in Pennsylvania history. Income tax rate will be raised by 20%, also an increase of the sales tax from 6 to 6.6 percent. In addition, many goods that have been exempt from the sales tax would be taxed, include nursing care, parks, and textbooks. It’s ironic that Gov. Wolf wants to start taxing textbooks, when at the same time he increases spending on education.
This law will ensure that Tom Wolf is reelected and Pennsylvanians will be forced to pay higher taxes.

All of which has nothing to do with your claim that gerrymandering impacted the governors race, do you know that there is no electoral college for governors.

Without "fixing" election, this country would be solid purple or blue.
Of course we are not a democracy...if we were, we wouldn't have two Senators from WY who have exactly as much power as the two from CA....even though they have 20X the population! Can you say "uneven participation".......
This is going on just about everywhere. Florida would easily turn purple or blue at the state level if they gave released convicts back their voting rights...or, if they didn't gerrymander...or, if the Kochs didn't spend big bucks so Rick Scott would win - with less than 50% of the vote. Same goes if they let owners of residential properties vote (most live in other states, so the "local yokels" get to set the politics even though more money might come from others).
It will likely go purple and then blue anyway....just a dozen or more years after it should have.
In the end, I think our political system is broken....."winner takes all" is bad enough, but with unlimited money now and a "fixed" SCOTUS and a crazy man for POTUS - it's somewhat hopeless in the short term.
For some relativity on how bad it really was - gun control was not considered a bad thing back in the 70's and 80's....and "campaign finance reform" was backed by the vast majority of Americans...and on and on.
Today, those things are water over the dam - hundreds of millions of guns and billions and billions paying off politicians...
Any "real" democracy in this country would make it much more moderate and even center-left. But the far-right will do ANYTHING (including outright cheating, colluding with Russians, whipping up racism and white supremacy, unlimited money, gerrymandering and much more) to hang onto power.
The founders said our system would only work with an ethical and moral people. I think we can all agree that's not the case. Our political system is bought and sold and gamed.
I’m talking about gerrymandering not changing the outcome of statewide elections because in-state districts don’t make any difference. What the hell are you talking about?
