Call it what you will. We need much stricter checks and balances on gun purchases.

In President Obama's defense (and I loathe the man and his politics), he didn't do much because there isn't much you can do in a country where natural rights of the individual are protected in our founding documents and baked into our legal system, an where the Executive branch is both coequal to the other two branches, as well as subservient to the restrictions placed upon it in the Constitution.

The Executive branch has exactly zero role in the process of amending the Constitution. Also, DC vs Heller was decided before Obama took office, and that was a serious moment in favoring the individual's natural right to keep and bear arms over the government's anti-gun foolishness. Basically, his hands were tied no matter what he would have liked to do or claimed he wanted. 2A + SCOTUS on the side of the individual creates a tough landscape for anyone to start yanking away individual rights.

During his admin, the SCOTUS sided with the individual twice more: McDonald v City of Chicago and Caetano v Massachusetts. And that last case was 9-0 slapdown of the lower court.

So really, what was Obama supposed to do to implement anti-gun measures? Disregard checks and balances, the Constitution, the Congress, and the Supreme Court and then declare himself Caesar? Same question for Trump? You're blaming someone for not violating every tenet of properly functioning checks & balances and declaring their new dictatorship, simply because they haven't issued some royal/imperial decree that bans guns.

We are talking about an explicitly protected, fundamental natural right of the individual. That government has a really hard time taking said rights away is a design feature, not a bug. Be grateful partisan gamesmanship and kneejerk hysterics do not make laws in the US.

HINT: Trying to block Obama's every move doesn't count.

While Democrats held the majority for most of Obama's presidency, they had FULL control of both houses for four months. Enough time for the ACA to get passed and enacted. Obama also had the power of the pen and wasn't afraid to use it. So the argument that conservatives blocked him is just weak at best. Someone on another thread actually wants us to believe that 4 months of absolute control was not enough time to get anything done wrt gun control legislation/reform. Please. The real reason the left didn't move on the gun issue - which everyone, even those in denial deep down, knows to be true - is because Obama & his lapdogs in Congress did not want that responsibility & decision to factor into his "legacy" and future electability of these louses. They knew they had nothing to offer besides the verbal blame game - and most of America sees that for exactly what it is.

Not saying the conservatives should get a pass either. But at least Trump is presenting some sort of compromise in his proposals, at least it's a start. I give full credit to America's youth for that. Certainly no politician on either side of the aisle deserves kudos for it. But suggesting that the left was "blocked" is just pure doodoo.

That was about the Social Security Administration reporting some 75,000 people that were listed as disabled, to restrict their rights with out due process. Being disabled does not necessary mean mentally imbalanced. It was rolled back because it restricted thousands of people rights without going through the courts, you know the silly little thing about due process of law.

Conservatives aren't cowards like progressives who hide and wait for government to help them. We defend ourselves.

No President will ever ban the sales of guns, because every President is smart.

What we need in America, is a law that allows every citizen to purchase a gun, no matter what city they live in.

An armed society is a polite society. That is the truth from people living in RĂ©alville.

Obama passed legislation to see that adjudicated mentally ill persons could not purchase guns.
Trump overturned that as one of his first orders of business. Trump put guns, AR15 weapons of mass destruction back in the hand of mentally ill.

NOW he is trying to say HE is going to advance that legislation.

He is an all around THIEF. A weak stupid man.
