Kasich is almost done with his 2nd term and isn't seeking re-election, so he can blabber all he wants. All of those in Congress who pass laws don't want to take a gamble and risk losing their support from voters. Their key goal is seeking re-election. NRA has millions of members and this can sway whether they keep their job or not.

We have "common sense gun laws". The overwhelming majority of people calling for more gun control have absolutely no idea what the current laws are, or how poorly they're enforced.

This.

Most of the people screaming the loudest are the most misinformed about what current laws actually are.

Top GOP Donor Won’t Back Candidates Unless They Support Assault Weapons Ban

Following Wednesday’s shooting massacre at a Florida high school, a top Republican political donor has taken a stand for gun control ― by tightening his purse strings.

Businessman Al Hoffman Jr. told the New York Times that he “will not write another check” for candidates and political groups that don’t support a ban on assault weapons. The Florida-based former ambassador to Portugal has donated millions to GOP candidates and political groups over the years, reported the paper.

He's speaking RINO, "common sense gun laws"=bans and restriction. Just like "common sense immigration laws"=amnesty and more mass migration. That's not common sense, it's kool-aide shoved down your throat.

Or at least not repeal them, and pass stupid new loopholes that allow guns to be introduced into situations that defy common sense. Even law enforcement agrees they are a bad idea:

I'm citing an example from my home state, but you can rest assured these aren't the only examples.

Actually we do, and they are ludicrous. But we live in a society that values gun rights over everything else. Something I will never understand. The mass shootings will of course continue and many more innocent people will die, many of them children. And the gun rights zealots will continue to say, “a gun never murdered anyone”, and other such nonsense. My biggest irritation is, our society made this choice, so why must I hear of every mass shooting for weeks on end, as if it is something out of the ordinary? These incidents are not only feared, they are assured to continue. So why not just a paragraph in the news when it happens, again and again? We all know it’s an accepted part of U.S. culture now. We all know it is going to continue. So why must it be headline news? Gun loving Americans have ensured there will be no meaningful changes to gun laws and all the mental health awareness in the world is not going to stop some angry, depressed person from his 15 minutes of fame and retribution. So let’s stop pretending we are all shaken to the core by senseless child murders. We not only accept it as a society, we encourage it.
