The Parkland school shooter was bullied and ostracized by his classmates and this protester and new face of the march to ban guns admits to it.

The irony here is ridiculous. These millennials that have been raised and taught to accept everyone no matter what were actually responsible in creating the monster that shot up the school.
She and her friends ostracized the kid because he was different and didn't fit in.
Has she looked in a mirror lately? I'm not going there because I'm not mean but seriously....

The shooter was in emotional trouble for many years leading up to the day he brought the gun to school and his fellow classmates, teachers, school counselors, and other authorities did nothing to help.

It is a sad state of affairs when the party that talks about diversity, acceptance, love for all has none of it for others that don't fit into their mold.
I know proud Republican, Trump supporting gun owners that would leap into action to help a stranger in distress. They would also not expect praise when they do a good deed.

I guess we cannot lay the blame for the shooting at the feet of the kids that bullied and ostracized the shooter but they certainly did not help the situation that led him to pick up a gun.
I just don't think we should be taking the advice of these kids to turn in our guns for the better good when their actions helped to create the situation.

What difference does it make if anyone "ostracized" him?

He might have been a creepy character and no one wanted to have anything to do with him.

Lots of people are ostracized and some for good reason. Still doesn't put "blame on both sides" for this massacre.

The Parkland shooter demonstrated serious issues going back to early Middle School years. He was obsessed with Nazies, anti - Semitism and race. He was transferred to an alternative school for emotional/ behavioral disorders.

He was eventually transferred back to mainstream education at the Douglas high school where he continued his Nazi, anti Semitism and racist behavior. He was obsessed with guns. He was eventually expelled for fighting.

How does an 11-12 year old become consumed with hate like this? His adoptive family? The internet?

On average, Schizophrenic and/ or psychopathic symptoms become obvious in males at age 18, meaning half demonstrate symptoms earlier, often with the onset of puberty. Professionals are very reluctant to diagnose serious mental illness in minors because of immature condition and emotional states.

What's even more ironic is all of the people trying to blame these kids for bullying while actively bullying the survivors themselves.

On the one hand, we have people argue that they are just kids and not old enough and wise enough to effect change and on the other we have the same people argue that kids should have been able to effectively diagnose, manage and control the shooter's anger issues.
That they should have what, placated him and been nice to him so he didn't explode?
Sort of like a battered wife shouldn't anger her abusive husband?

It's the ultimate in victim-blaming.

Classy OP.

Bullies we see don't change. Bullied the shooter and now bulling lawful gun owners.

The coercion to abuse, intimidate, and aggressively dominate others is on full display and approved of by the adult enablers.

at the end of the video clip. She says "for those who are suggesting we shouldn't have ostracized him, you didn't know this kid, okay we did"

The kid fell through the cracks at a very young age and his peers put him there and the parents, teachers, school psychologists, and finally the Police did very little to help him.

This shooting and murder of 17 innocent people could have been prevented.

I agree that he was not stable enough to own a gun and should have never been able to buy one but that is not the fault of the NRA or millions of law abiding responsible gun owners.

We have to be realistic -- many kids get ostracized -- they don't shoot people to get back at them.

There is a certain truth that part of the solution or an attempt to reduce these kinds of instances is to be more aware of how we treat others matters.

It's part of a multi-layered, complex solution.

And yes -- ironic -- those bullying these kids are now criticizing these kids for bullying -- with the biggest bully we have ever had as President.
