1--the IG didn't fire anyone---not in his power to do so
2--McCabe is not a "crooked cop"....
He is a senior level federal employee working at the DOJ enforcement agency----the FBI
3--the fact that McCabe was such an employee means that there are certain regulations and requirements that legally must be followed and precedents that are in place regarding disciplinary issues
4--Sessions was under a time constraint to make Trump's wet dream happen and fire McCabe before he could activate his early retirement...after all you can't fire someone who doesn't work for you --- can you...
5--but to do that Sessions may also have "stepped in it" and "spilled a can of worms" all over this decision
(Not the first time he has either)
6--Frankly, I think Session's decision to terminate McCabe will be much more an indictment against him, Trump, and the WH collusion efforts to obstruct justice
7-McCabe's lawsuit against wrongful termination has just created a situation where Sessions will be required to give a deposition in all probability and perhaps Trump as well...

If I were McCabe, I would sue them for wrongful termination. I hope Karma gets Trump and his little muppet Sessions, paybacks are Hell. When it does, we will be right here, remembering this horrible thing they did to McCabe.
He lied under oath, several times according to OPR. Look what happened to Flynn for lying. Why is an FBI director above the law?
Think about it. Really hard. If Trump lies, you would want him impeached, like Bill Clinton for lying under oath.
Standards need to be held. Simple, and Sessions took recommendation and made he call.

I don't think McCabe will be silent.

Much like fired FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe wrote memos documenting his conversations with President Donald Trump, a source with knowledge of the matter told CNN.

The memos also detail what Comey told McCabe about his own interactions with Trump while he was FBI director and are seen as a way to corroborate Comey's account in Mueller's prob.

Sessions lied under oath about Russia. Trump lied.

So now you are judge, jury , and executioner ? He ALLEGEDLY lied, and none of us have seen any PROOF of that yet.......just what Trump's minions have claimed.

Sounds like Mr. McCabe has some dirt on Trump.
That is possible:

AP learns fired McCabe kept personal memos regarding Trump
Andrew McCabe, the onetime FBI deputy director long scorned by President Trump and just fired by the attorney general, kept personal memos regarding Trump that are similar to the notes compiled by dismissed FBI chief James Comey detailing interactions with him, The Associated Press has learned.
