North Korea/Kim got world recognition (something NK has been yearning for for decades), and a promise of no more joint US/SK military exercises in South Korea.
Donald Trump got a bunch of press and was able to say he "trusts" Kim.
You see, you libs have no answers and it kills you that Trump did.
No. As a liberal what kills me is too see that your dear Lord did absolutely nothing but you either seriously believe it (which is even worse) or pretend that he did it
sounds like many liberals believe we can't try to normalize relations with Kim and we should wait until he dies in 60 years or so to try to make peace with NoKo. lol
So America now normalizes relations with dictators? Is this our policy going forward?
That's what it sounds like. Trump promises to terminate USA funds for military exercises in S Korea (Trump's goal), and S Korea is left undefended (N Korea's goal)
Trump thinks he's a step closer to the the coveted Nobel Peace Prize.
South Korea is hardly undefended. Every able bodied man in the country is a trained soldier. They have weapons. They are trained. The US is still in South Korea.
You do understand it was just the exercises that were halted, don't you? We still have troops there.
So what's your solution... isolate Kim, drive him back into the arms of the PLA and help him smuggle nukes to Iran? Why that's a great idea!
Or better yet, invade NK and risk all out war with China?
You see, you libs have no answers and it kills you that Trump did.
Now this was funny. Trump's answer:
Give Kim legitimacy
End all military exercises that benefit our Asian allies and are disdained by China and NK.
Surprise our own military by ending military exercises without telling them.
Flatter the worst human rights violator in the world.
Throw our Asian allies under the bus.
Permit China to begin removing its sanctions.
Throw a lifeline to Kim
Trump has all the answers like he knows how to run a casino.
in June 2000, Washington eased longstanding sanctions against North Korea under the Trading with the Enemy Act, the Defense Production Act, and the Export Administration Act, clearing the way for increased trade, financial transactions, and investment. Pyongyang is still prohibited, however, from receiving U.S. exports of military and sensitive dual-use items and most related assistance.
In case you missed it in my post - I'm saying that last time, NK got a lot of what they wanted and we got empty promises. And that's exactly how it panned out.
This time, we've given NK things like "safety guarantees" and "no more war games."
You've supposedly negotiated a major concession in a huge nuclear disarmament deal that has global implications. Better get that baby on the record ASAP, right?
If you want to get technical we never signed the peace treaty in 1953 in regards to the Korean war so we are still at war with N. Korea. So all presidents have been at war the entire time.
Regarding Obama and Bush 2. I thought they were both horrible presidents but Bush 2 started the wars and Obama failed to fully pull us out. So just to say Obama was more of a war hawk than Bush simply by saying he was at war longer is not true. Bush 2 caused a lot more damage in the middle east due to his actions than Obama did due to his inactions.
Obama wanted to be a dove but apparently was talked out of it. Not a strong leader.
Actually, to get technical, North and South Korea are still at war. We were never at war with them. We supported the UN in helping the south fight the north.
