This is laughable and seems to be a waste of money. Unless the teachers can use the bats on the bullies and thugs that attack teachers and other students, then I guess its a win.

What's the old saying? Don't bring a knife to a gun fight? I guess baseball bats are ok though.

You don't need a gun to defend yourself against someone with a knife, unless maybe they have 5 foot arms.

Yeah, you do. Within 10 or so feet a knife wielder can stick you before you can react.
