Wow, amazing how low the homicide rate has gotten in New York City. The borough of Manhattan especially.

To bad, LAPD fails at controlling crime like the NYPD. Los Angeles has had 65 homicides this year, which is 6 times the rate of Manhattan on a per-capita basis.

Las Vegas Metro Police Jurisdiction which has 1.6 million people just like Manhattan, has had 56 homicides which is 14 times the rate of Manhattan.

With 1.6 million people, they have only had 4 homicides this year.

Homicide in Manhattan is down 97% since 1990.

At least there a few good Democrats out there running cities.

B-b-b-but liberalism turns cities into unlivable hellscapes! Maybe they aren't real liberals running NYC.

I think New York City and Boston are actually well-operated Democratic cities. They are few and far between but they do exist.

Taxpayers at least get something for the incredible taxes they pay in NYC and Boston, compared to San Francisco and Los Angeles which are poorly run with third-world living conditions and rampant crime.

They do have extremely high taxes but on some metrics they do very well.

The Democrats that run in NYC and Boston despite many flaws, also do some things very well.

Republicans are in general much better at operating cities and states overall though.

Sadly, lots and lots of Democratic failures out there that far out number failed Republican cities.

Neither party is better at "operating" anything except stealing our money, giving it away to their buddies, and lining their pockets with the rest of it.

NYC has very limited gang culture. Yes, gangs exist, but people don’t get shot over trivial matters.

I agree with you, but feel the need to point out that Manhattan is not NYC. The five boroughs make up NYC, and they had 35 homicides as of the beginning of April. A multiple of the 4 homicides listed by the OP. Still a very, very good number for a city this size.

What's sad is that you don't understand how cities segregate or move problems elsewhere. (Granted murder is down all over the country, largely due to abortion imo. Hey wait, I thought the problem was guns? lmao.)

Chicago for example used to have lots of problems around Cabrini Green and proximate areas.

So, they moved those people out to the other side of the tracks (literally in many cases), or the other side of the interstate...and voila....rich yuppy condos now occupy the area and murder goes on all the time in the other areas.

Would you really cheer the fact that Lincoln Park has 1 murder per 100k annually but the neighborhood Austin just 3 miles away is 30+? Because yay...the cops harass the blacks (lets be honest here) they think are up to no good in Lincoln Park and go *ape ***** if any gang crime goes down in the nice areas?

I have no problems with "liberals" or "conservatives" as long as they are reasonable.

It's important to note that major metros are shielded to some extent from abusive policing due to political affiliation.
