I can see no reason whatsoever for anyone to oppose this.
It puts little-to-no burden on anyone, and it actually reduces costs to the taxpayer, adds accountability to congress, and brings the workplace norms closer in line with everyone else in America.
I predict this will be one of those issues where we will out the people who put party over all else.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), the GOP co-author of the bill, supports the call for a rewrite of the sexual harassment rules but has not yet signed the letter.
Cruz is expected to sign on to the letter on Thursday.
“Sen. Cruz appreciates Sen. Merkley’s efforts to urge a vote on Gillibrand-Cruz, and he told Sen. Merkley last week he’d be more than happy to sign a letter,” a spokesperson for Cruz told Politico. “In fact, Sen. Cruz has personally urged GOP leadership to mark up Gillibrand-Cruz, and he is working to get additional senators to sign the letter in support of the legislation.”
I didn't believe it before but now I see it; the GOP is literally trying to commit political suicide! Never mind all the anti-consumer legislation they've passed recently, this speaks volumes about their character.
How about refraining from sexual harassment to begin with, GOP????
