That does not prove intent to deceive. More likely POTUS does not view it as a good use of time to comment on an off-hand remark of zero consequence from 2 years ago.
Anyone else have a proposal to prove 'intent to deceive?' Otherwise we can conclude that this was yet another Trump 'lie' that wasn't a lie.
The notion that Trump's "offhand" lies are not actually lies because he he doesn't have an "intent to deceive" is an odd one.
What, pray tell, do you suppose he intends if not to decieve?
Sure that makes terrific sense. Now Trump and Bernie are in it together. Say, didn't Bernie supposedly honeymoon in Moscow? Yes, the dots are all connecting now /sarc.
Long distances in dots to connect. I read somewhere he was there about 30 years ago.
Wait I thought that McDougal was one of Bill Clinton's girlfriends. She was famous for wearing hot pants while walking a horse in Arkansas real estate ads. I remember that much.
You're thinking of Susan McDougal.
"Susan's defense lawyer, Mark Geragos, stated that her ex-husband told her that Deputy Independent Counsel W. Hickman Ewing Jr. would be able to "get Clinton with a sex charge" before the 1996 election if she agreed to lie and say she had had an affair with Clinton. She has always denied ever having an affair with Clinton."
You have to admit trump knows how to pick lawyers doesn't he, I mean this guy tapes him and then Rudy openly tells everyone trump lies,it's an amazing show to watch.

My favorite Trump attorney will always be the one who got into that weird argument with himself in front of Mike Wallace.

It's not odd according to Merriam Webster. I posted this before in the thread, but I guess I have to post it again:
Quote:
Definition of lie
lied; lying play \ˈlī-iŋ\ intransitive verb
1 : to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive
I can't tell you what he intends. Unlike so many liberals these days, I don't claim psychic powers. But I can tell you that if you can't prove intent to deceive, you can't call it a lie. And so far no one can.

Oh, baloney.
While there are several definitions of lie -- to be in a horizontal resting position, have sexual intercourse with, be out of commission, ... lie is most often used to refer to an:
While some lies are intentional, others may be based on false information.
For example, one might repeat false information read on Brietbart. Your intention might be to clear up a situation rather than deceive, but it is still a lie regardless of your intention.
To claim that we can't call Trump out for a lie because we aren't psychic and can't know if his intention was to deceive is ridiculous on the face of it.
He lied about being in Scotland ahead of time and lied about accurately predicting the Brexit vote.
Regardless of whether Trump intended to deceive or was merely staying in practice makes no difference.
He lied.

Of course he did. & does. & will continue to do.
These other lame-a$$ defenses? Long story short: are distinctions without a difference period full-stop.
Short story long (not really) Sophistry. & more sophistries. It's 'Turtles all the way down' level sophistries.
