Not sure when we've ever seen a country choose to boycott a specific product based on the votes of its source. Because U.S. grown soybeans are grown by typically Trump-supporting farmers, China just canceled over 60,000 tons.

China "very deliberately" not buying U.S. soybeans amid trade war

"...soybeans are "almost exclusively produced by farmers in the GOP's rural base who voted overwhelmingly for President Trump in the 2016 election"

China canceled a net 62,690 metric tons of U.S. soybean purchases in the two weeks ended April 19, the Bloomberg article pointed out, citing USDA data for the current marketing year.

China is calling Trump's bluff.

He wants to get into a trade war? So be it.

It looks like what is a loss for U.S. farmers, is a gain for places like Brazil and Canada.

“They’re buying beans in Canada, in Brazil, mostly Brazil, but very deliberately not buying anything from the U.S.”

The vast majority of US soybean exports go to China. China has stopped buying ALL us soybeans.

In 2016, China imported $16 billion of US Soybeans. Now it's $0 due to Trump.

By May, many soybean farmers have already bought their seed, made their plans. Many fields have already been planted.

Do they scrap everything? Do they go ahead and hope Trump, the Great Negotiator will get this straightened out?

What happens to soybeans if there is a glut on the market? Or if there is no market at all for half their soybeans?

The Chinese state run media has repeatedly said over and over, that they are open to talks but they are not afraid to engage in a trade war. In fact, they even said trade war is easy to win and is beneficial to them. Sounds like anyone you know?

It isn't only farmers that will be impacted.

Might be a boon for producers who buy soybean for feed like Catfish farms if there is a significant price drop

Maybe U.S. farmers could sell their soybeans to Brazil and Canada for pennies on the dollar.

My god, you don't even recognize when he's fighting for the American people do you? Or is it that you don't want the American people to do well under Trump?
