They’re going to go after the Vice President next. He’s one of them, too since he eats vegan muffins.

It sounds like there were several poor decisions made here. That doesn't sound like a song I would want to hear in a coffee shop, but when the Duke VP complained, the barista apologized, turned it off, and offered him free food by way of further apology, so why not just drop it? Also, why didn't the owner simply ask that they refrain from playing music with vulgar lyrics in the future? No need to fire them over it, really. That seems a bit extreme.

Yes probably but we don't know the whole story. The owner may have been having problems with these employees for a period of time and this was the final straw.

Highly unlikely this was the first problem he had with these 2 workers.

There's no way of knowing what type of employees they are. I suspect if they have such poor judgment as to play cursing, racist music, this could have been a last straw type of deal. No way to know though.

That's possible. I'm basing my opinion on the facts currently available. The question of work history still doesn't address the question of why it was necessary to call and complain when they changed the music and apologized. In a similar situation, I would have considered that the end of the matter.

I don’t have a problem with this, not everyone wants to listen to that, not to mention the language, and I am a die hard hip hop fan and I listen to some of the stuff called trap music.

Because anyone who chooses to play that trash clearly has mental problems. Did you see the "barista's" picture? This person clearly belongs in a mental institution.

Where did you earn your credentials as a psychiatrist? They must be very impressive.

I agree. Since it was a Spotify playlist and the baristas were put in charge and told to play hip music, I'm sure they were just choosing playlists that were of current music and may not have even known that that song was on it. The typically serve hundreds of people a day, so I doubt anyone was standing around playing DJ.

The coffee shop owners should have rules for music to prevent this sort of thing. That VP was being a jerk.

Good luck getting a job anywhere else after the publicity. A business owner would be out of their mind to employ anyone like this.
