Oliver North, the ex-Marine lieutenant colonel convicted and eventually exonerated in the Reagan-era Iran-Contra scandal, will become the next president of the National Rifle Association, the gun lobby's top executive announced Monday.
North is a damn good pick. La Pierre sucks. North's actions with the Central American issues back in the 80s really don't bother me as to his character. He did what he was ordered to do, and the USMC has this ...odd? ...thing going about following orders. And keeping ones mouth shut when national security is on the line. Funny that. Imagine...Marines following their orders. Whoda Thunk!!
I'm OK with Ollie. I think he can actually turn the NRA into what it needs to be. He's a good hand.
Well he sold weapons to Iran, lied to congress, and shredded evidence to try and hide all the crimes. Yeah, sounds like he will be the perfect NRA president.

Nope, ACLU got him off because he testified about it all under a immunity deal, and they then convicted him for things he testified about. It was a reasonable argument that they had the evidence already, but it failed before a judge.

He was convicted in the Iran–Contra affair of the late 1980s but his convictions were vacated and reversed, and all charges against him dismissed in 1991.
