Yeah, school shootings, police brutality, church shootings, far right/far left extremists, all because of single mothers, high school dropouts and those terrorizing their own communities.

You're much more likely to be shot in southside Chicago than in a mass shooting.

Historical racism caused that. I'm a little shocked to see someone coming in here trying to deny this reality and shuffle off the enormously high AA murder rate in major cities onto the high profile school shootings etc.
Don't get cute. The gun violence problem is hugely anchored in inner-city gangs and people of color due to past racism.
Bringing up a school shooting of suburban mostly white kids in relation to the topic is pratically offensive.
It's like comparing Holocaust survivors to people that got caught in internment camps during the war. Neither was good, but they're on a whole other magnitude of *bad*.
Oh and yes, the reasons you rolled your eyes at ARE some of the more acute symptoms of historical racism.

Not if you're white! Hence the disconnect between the artist that gets it and others that dabble in the topic as it suits them politically. (Both left and right)
Mass shootings hit white kids.
Lots and lots and lots of "regular" shootings hit non-white kids.
I think the music video is a masterful work of art. I think it will get whatever accolades this kind of work is inline for. The conversation about killing in our society is now fodder for entertainment. It reminds me of folk singers who believe they are changing the world one song at a time while cashing their royalties checks.
Unfortunately killing is in our DNA. Maybe because we are a country that killed throughout history to get to where we are today. On the way here, Americans killed , indigenous people, British, French, Spain, Mexico, then the south and the north killed each other. We will kill to protect our right to kill just ask any NRA member.
Wouldn't it be convenient if there was something more tangible to blame gun violence on like something we can change through legislation? When was the last time some young aboriginal man or a Yanomami young man walked calmly through his village shooting poison darts into children? never.
