This is a story which has received very little media coverage outside of the Iowa town in which it happened, likely due to it not fitting the narratives of racist cops and male victims of domestic violence.

The victim's family and the newspaper sued to see the full bodycam video and other records in the case, but the state of Iowa says they won’t release them.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Burlington Police Department have been charged with violating the state’s open records law for refusing to release the full video, saying it is part of an investigative record and is confidential.
