Opinion
Obama – Just Too Good for Us

By Maureen Dowd
Opinion Columnist

Ben Rhodes, a presidential adviser, with President Barack Obama on Air Force One in early 2016.

WASHINGTON — It was a moment of peak Spock.
Hours after the globe-rattling election of a man whom Barack Obama has total disdain for, a toon who would take a chain saw to the former president’s legacy on policy and decency, Obama sent a message to his adviser Ben Rhodes: “There are more stars in the sky than grains of sand on the earth.”
Perhaps Obama should have used a different line with a celestial theme by Shakespeare: “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.”

I read the article and threw up a little bit in my mouth.

Memo to Darth Barry: You were wrong.

America is exceptional. Its best days are not behind us. With your successor leading the way, they may well be ahead of us.

I think Obama was thinking ahead of his time with education for all, free health insurance, no discrimination, no racism and where we could all work together toward a common goal of bettering the planet and ourselves BUT America is not and is a far way off from being like the crew of the Starship Enterprise on Star Trek.

Obama had some high ideals but America and the planet were not ready. His goal was to fundamentally change America and turn it into something it was never meant to be. He would have taken us from a capitalist society to socialism where the Government takes care of us from the womb to the tomb.

Thankfully we have too many free spirits in this country that voted Trump and stopped America from from heading down the path of destruction.

Obama knew we were a bunch of deplorables so maybe that is why he went on his apology tour when he was first elected?

That time will never come. Obama was just dreaming. Or maybe just peddling BS.

Probably a bit of both. I never got the guy at all. He sounded very pragmatic and down to earth, but really had little in common with any American. He had his foot in every world just a little, from his quasi humble upbringing, taking on the name of a foreign father who deserted him as an infant, to the Communist influences of Frank Davis and Bill Ayers, to his Muslim Step father in Indonesia, to his Radical Christian Pastor Reverand Wright. His influences were the whose who of Nuts.

How odd can a person be, the guy wins the most prestigious peace prize in the world then proceeds to destroy the Muslim country of Libya, all after promising the people of the middle east that the US would be a kinder nation with him at the helm. Just plain weird

We all bought the whole package of Obama, like buying a book based on the cover.

When you think about it what experience did he have before becoming President? He was a community organizer and a junior senator for a short time.

He promised much and delivered little. He gave billions to the middle east while making us believe that they were all victims and we were the problem. There are still many in the Dem camp that blame the rise of terrorism on America.

I'm nervous for the country considering how Bill Clinton gave us George Bush which led us to Barrack Hussein Obama and his radical attempts at changing America has brought us to The Donald. We are heading down a slippery slope and we just might be cursed with an extreme Loony Lefty as soon as 2020.

Except for when he was discriminating, engaging in subtle racism and jacking up the cost of health care for all.

Couldn't agree more. Actually now, I wish Bill Clinton of the 90s was in. Definitely not Hillary though.

Thank the folks who constantly tell us how voting for the "lesser of two evils" is somehow a good idea. It will just continue to lead us down the path of worse and worse candidates. Don't expect 2020 to be any different, just consider that it will likely be worse than 2016 was.
