Then again the US did attack Whitehaven in Cumbria in England in 1778 under the Command of founder of the US Navy John Paul Jones. Although to be honest Whitehaven near the Lake District was hardly strategically important and a number of the Americans who landed at the Old Quay slip, just headed straight to the pub, and had a good drink. The US Navy did secure the pub and it's surrounds for several hours. John Paul Jones Attack of 1778 - Whitehaven and Western Lakeland

For all the CNN Derangement Syndrome that is out there, CNN has consistently been proven right in their reporting. With all due respect, killing the messenger is getting old.
Killing the messenger, is all they have left. Take pity, for they are about to embark on a downhill journey, that no one would wish on their worst enemy.
Republicans have been saying for the past 18 months that the biggest source of information is directly from Trump. He can't keep his mouth shut; he calls all his friends and tells them everything. Even John Kelly complained about it and the latest was a former aide that says Trump is a "yenta".
News sources were able to determine not only who trashed John McCain, they were able to determine the fallout when Kelly Sadler accused her own boss of leaking the story. It's backstabber city in the White House but the biggest source of information is Trump himself. I have no doubt Trump said such childish things to Trudeau in response to Trudeau saying something along the lines of "just how are we a security threat to the United States". The country needs to start sending Tiny Fists pacifiers and disposable diapers. Wait until he's at the next global summit when he has no friends but Russia and China. Of course, that's the way Trump wants it.
Haha…. well we all know how the DOTARD Trump doesn't know diddly about history(or ANYTHING else for that matter)....Hey MORON Trump.... that was the British!

Links?
From now on back up your claims with specific and real stories.
And don't post the same old tired ones where CNN or a reporter apologizes for an error and clearly sets the record straight.
It's the same with folks calling Faux News -- from now on -- own it and back it up.
So this again is according to CNN who wasn't there. Do you really need to know anything else? Weren't they the one's who gave Hillary the debate questions beforehand?
Even if not true, it is something he would say. This is not a very intelligent, educated person we are discussing. That is the problem.
Apparently, while the Brits were burning down the White House, the Canucks were busy taking over the Smithsonian:
Today We Celebrate the Time Canada Burned Down the White House Colin Schultz is a freelance science writer and editor based in Toronto, Canada. He blogs for Smart News and contributes to the American Geophysical Union. He has a B.Sc. in physical science and philosophy, and a M.A. in journalism.
What is really significant (to me at least) about the anecdotal story is not whether it is true or not, but that people are able to believe it about him.
To historians that would be a key insight into the man as known by the general public.
