That’s just one message sent by a new executive order detailing a revised U.S. oceans policy released today by President Donald Trump. The order formally revokes the 2010 oceans policy issued by then-President Barack Obama, and replaces it with a markedly different template for what the government should focus on in managing the nation’s oceans, coastal waters, and Great Lakes.

Trump

A lot of stuff like this gets lost under some of the more provocative news.

Nothing in the Trump EO is untrue or even remotely negative. It is less SJW flowery than Obama, but everything in it is true.

Our oceans, lakes and waterways are economically and strategically important, and our stewardship of them should keep that economic and strategic importance in mind. What is wrong with writing and signing that? Obama's EO said almost the same thing, except it was followed by stories of Deepwater Horizon and Trump's doesn't. And?

Obama's reads like fluff, Trump's reads like business. Sounds about right, since Obama's entire career is fluffy campaign speeches and exactly nothing practical, where Trump is the diametric opposite. I would absolutely expect Obama to waste words and be flowery, while expecting Trump to not mince words and just get the important stuff in the EO and move along.

The article is making the implication that by removing fluff nonsense from the EO, Trump is ordering the immediate pollution and ruination of all US waterways. Read the entire thing. On actual policy, it's virtually identical to Obama's, but in lofty rhetoric, it's completely different. Again, that makes total sense considering the two people.

Default Distraction - Trump Rescinds Oceans and Great Lakes Protections During Immigration Debacle

Time and again we see this. The whole country is looking at children torn from their parents and Trump quickly signs to rescind Ocean and Great Lake protections. Republicans continuously prove they do not care about the environment. Obama signed this after the BP Deepwater Horizon explosion and massive oil spill.

"In his own executive order signed late Tuesday, Trump put a new emphasis on industries that use the oceans, particularly oil and natural gas drilling..."

Not focusing in the IG Report and the accompanying hearings either, or the improving economy...

I guess the best we can hope for is the next oil spill is in the Gulf. Or off the shores of Mar-a-Lago.
