Nobody is denying the owner's right not to serve. I don't see Sander filing a law suit like the Gays did with the Baker. This is not similar to that at all. All people are doing is commenting on the intolerance of a far left Progressive, and a Gay kitchen worker who are NOT TOLERANT of other people's political views.
Exactly. Which goes completely over the heads of those who will not see.
insulting customers who come to your business to spend their money because of politics and who they voted for is ignorant. You don't do that to your customers.
This rest. owner didn't debate her points or change any policy with the political opposition.....all she did was, "I don't like you and your politics and you must leave and never comeback".......it now comes to that.
I wouldn't do it, but if she wants to tell her to leave it's her restaurant.
Of course it's her restaurant, but it's utterly stupid business practice to turn away customers over political differences. It's completely irrational and childish.
What purpose did this stunt serve? Will Sarah now change her mind about Trump? NO. Will Trump's base will see the error in their ways and switch sides? NO. Will this whole thing create more division in this country. YES.

What purpose did this little stunt serve? Does she think Sarah will change her mind about Trump? Does she think Trump's base will see the error in their ways and switch sides? I mean what was the purpose of this?
She didn’t want to make her staff uncomfortable. This administration perpetuates division, meanness, bigotry, and hatred. This is all offensive to the restaurant staff.
You either support a business owner's right to refuse service or you don't.
the baker can refuse service and the restaurant owner can refuse service.
the baker can not refuse service and the restaurant owner can not refuse service.
this debate is that simple.
I support a business owner's legal right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. of course, that owner may suffer consequences for that decision in the court of public opinion. that is different than legal consequences, however.
Not necessarily hypocrisy, IMHO. We're all trying to sort through this insane behavior all around us... except those who don't really think and prefer to adopt the opinions of the media's political talking heads.
You're right, dogwalker. This isn't the same as the baker case. Thanks for pointing that out this morning. This is much more threatening and wrong on every level.
Why are the two issues not the exact same thing again ? Just because a poster said its not the same thing ? Its exactly the same issue. A business claims that they cannot accommodate a customer whose life style they disagree without condoning that persons values. I personally feel the bakers should have to bake a cake that the gay couple wants and the restaurant should serve the customer whose politics they disagree with. Couldn't the proprietor of the Red Hen say serving an Huckabee who defends a President she feels lies and is inhumane violates her biblical beliefs as well ? Its exactly the same thing.

The owner’s reasoning is pretty admirable.
So let me get this straight..
She thinks this administration is divisive, mean, bigoted, and hateful, so she does something that is precisely divisive, mean, bigoted, and hateful?

Sarah was not asking them to make her a Trump burger or to put GOP labels on her dessert. She was doing exactly what every other patron was doing, dining out with her friends and family members.
And yes, the Red Hen can do anything they want to. They can also bear the brunt of the consequences.
They claimed the staff wanted Sarah to leave. Owner doesn't like confrontation.
Boy howdy, how is that one working out for them?

She should've literally kicked her ass out the door. That whole administration deserves nothing but disrespect. They've earned that.
And this childish behavior will serve what purpose exactly? Will it make Trump go away? Will it make Trump supporters turn on Trump? Will it make the country less divided?
