It's not the governments job to educate the stupid on how to handle their own email. Usually it's the real domain owner of the one being faked that reaches out to the users and notifies them. That's how it always has been handled, from Google to eBay, etc. It's been like that for decades. How about the MSM does what you suggest? It seems the dummies will do and believe whatever they tell them to anyway, where are they?
I've given a sound solution on how easy it is to notify the American people on cyber attacks that are happening. This is a completely different time we live in where as you pointed out hacking isn't what it once was. It's much simpler. It's in the form of social engineering. The gov't should be educating people on all of this just as they do when we are at war. When tech companies reach out it's already too late. If our intel agencies are seeing it happening, as they are happening, they should brief the President and he should say something since this is the same exact thing that has happened before. He'd rather talk about crowd sizes etc. but doesn't want to touch cyber threats b/c it's "possibly" the reason why he got elected.
