The situation in L.A with the homeless has gotten totally out of hand .

Now the latest is homeless have taken over a popular recreation area and threatening people with machetes and axes and other weapons . They also have makeshift kitchens .. in an area that has seen many fires started by the homeless that have destroyed .

The city is allowing the homeless to do as they please even if it means being a danger to the general public .

We are seeing similar situations in other liberal run cities . San Francisco , Oakland , Seattle , Portland etc

There have been many incidents of the homeless killing random people but usually it’s just a blurb in the local media it’s covered at all .

The crime rates of these homeless are very high . About 6,000 arrested a year for felonies in L.A with a population of about 30,000 homeless .

Hansen Dam is the latest place where residents and visitors say they are tired and scared. Hikers and equestrians in the popular recreation area have videos and photos of large encampments blocking the trails and water ways. Some claim they have been threatened with axes, machetes, and other weapons, when they try to approach people living in these encampments complete with furniture, and makeshift kitchens.

It doesn't matter if it is "liberal run" or run by a Republican. The homeless NYC population grew under both Giuliani and Bloomberg. How would you handle this situation where the mentally ill have nowhere to go other than the street or jail? This is a national issue, not a "liberal run" issue. What is your conservative solution of dealing with the homeless? Do you have one, or is this a disingenuous thread with the actual intent of bashing liberals?

Under Giuliani--"...Dozens were arrested. He also had the NYPD initiate sweeps inside shelters to pursue homeless residents with outstanding warrants. Despite his hard-line tactics, shelter population began an increase that would last for years, hitting 30,000 as Giuliani left office in December 2001..."

A shelter population going up is a lot different than homeless being allowed to take over parks and recreation areas and streets and threaten people .

This is what Giuliani said
“''Streets do not exist in civilized societies for the purpose of people sleeping there,'' the mayor said yesterday during his weekly radio call-in show. ''Bedrooms are for sleeping.'' He added that the right to sleep on the streets ''doesn't exist anywhere. The founding fathers never put that in the Constitution.''

Mr. Giuliani referred several times to yesterday morning's front-page headline in The Daily News. The headline, ''Get the Violent Crazies Off Our Streets,'' was for a two-page editorial inside that demanded the city remove the ''dangerously deranged'' from city streets and put them in institutions.”
