Whirpool, Kenmore, Maytag and other American brands have disappeared from the floor for years now. And why is it that LGs, which are pure imports, are selling well but the homegrown brands are struggling? Which one has more tariff on it?

Its fragmented here by item.
Bosch is strong in dishwashers. We dont even floor their other stuff.
LG is strongest in laundry and has great demand. Dont think Ive ever been asked about their dishwashers.

I avoid Electrolux/ Frigidaire except top freezers and ranges. Brings me back too many angry people combined with a regional player here offering whole house packages of their low end items in landlord special packs.
I have a few flippers that buy from me who buy the lower end of mid-ish stuff from me with a few nice extras that they point out to their buyers. They love me. One house just sold in 3 days partly because they had a nicer 5 burner range rather than a 4 burner and a stainless interior dishwasher. Signs were placed on both items pointing it out. He told me the wife of the buying couple homed in on and liked them right away. Not the only factor but clearly pushed the wife toward wanting the house.

The bargain guys go to those packs by Frigidaire. I wont even bother.

We are the biggest customer in the world. If we stop buying products, those countries will suffer and they know it. Sec. of Commerce Ross said we are negotiating from a position of strength because of our booming economy.

Looks like other countries are starting to blink. Look what just happened with the EU. I wonder how the media will spin this to make him look bad. Juncker specifically said he came to the White House yesterday to make a deal.

Go to Lowes and try to find a Whirlpool, Kitchenaid or Maytag appliance made in the USA.

Trump is going to force them to move that production back into the USA.

I live in Ohio and we have Whirlpool here in Ohio. I know people who work for them.

Samsung makes great laundry but has a rep for abandoning making parts for old stuff.
Same thing with 10 year old GE washer. Couldn't get parts any longer to fix it. Divorced friend sold us his then 3 year old Samsung Washer/Dryer for $150 for pair back then.

We must have very good luck.

Certain companies tend to specialise in certain parts of the market for instance Smeg (Italian) tend to be big when it comes to cookers (and to some extent fridge/freezers) as are Stoves and Belling, in terms of Eletrolux it's mainly the fridge/freezer market and whirlpool is mainly though os as a washing machine brand. Electrolux and Whirlpool do tend to be priced at the cheaper end of the market.

The more expensive end of the market tends to be German companies such as Miele, Bosch, Siemens, Neff etc and up and coming Turkish brands such as Beko and Blomberg are trying to break in to this market.

My Cousin in Findlay Ohio works for Whirlpool. Just saying.
Like I said when I bought my Washer/Dryer I was told that Whirlpool's (at least the washers were made in America....I like to buy Made in America, when possible.)

American model/actress Kate Upton (very sexy) is the respective great-granddaughter and great-grand-niece of the 2 brothers that founded Whirlpool, Frederick and Louis Upton. Maybe her doing some advertising spots could increase some company sales.

Farmers, autos, durable goods ….. "tariffs wreak havoc" is right.
The OP should really try to keep up with current events instead of cherry picking. If it wasn't for Obama's administration putting foolish job killing regulations in place and killing the Steel industry there would be plenty of steel and steel related jobs to build what ever.

Quote:
U.S. Steel said Wednesday that it is preparing to restart its steelmaking facilities and one blast furnace at an Illinois plant as a result of President Trump’s promise to levy tariffs on foreign steel.
If U.S. Steel restarts part of its plant in Granite City, Ill., which has been out of commission for more than two years, the company could hire 500 workers. The company anticipates the restart could take about four months.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money...ffs/403064002/

The OP is off the track...for one Whirlpool has been on the decline for years....and the present tariffs probably won't put in place. Because to top all this off the US and the EU have agreed to zero tariffs on a majority of products as of a meeting between Trump and the EU yesterday.
