I've voted in every Congressional and Presidential election since I was legally able to vote in 2004. I've probably voted in the majority of primaries and municipal elections as well.

I've gone from voting straight Democrat in 2004/2006/2008, to voting virtually straight Republican since. I'm enthusiastically pro-Trump. I think he has been an amazing President for the white working class.

However, on a personal level, I'm tired of the day to day political process. I'm tired of the news. I'm following news less. I'm more likely to skim headlines than read long-form articles. I'm tired of the consistent bickering, gridlock, so on and so forth. I actually canceled my NYT subscription. I've kept my Economist subscription, but it's far more analytical, balanced, and less partisan than my other sources.

As I get older, the constant political tug-of-war seems to have less and less appeal. While I have my personal political views, I'm less and less likely to get involved in the advocacy of those beliefs. I've previously focused a lot of my personal energy, effort, and such on national politics. As I age, I realize my influence on the national scale is nothing, on the state level - it's still small, but on the local level - I may be able to do enough to get noticed. Local politics, no matter where I am, will be my focus from here on out. It feels pointless to swim with or against national political tides - you'll just tire yourself out swimming against it, or be one in a choir swimming with it.

Our society has numerous problems. With more age and experience, I'm convinced that the solutions are not political.

How tired of you of national politics?

I'm tired of the news media and all the hate. The media in my opinion seems to fuel the fire. I have gotten rid of all my news links on Facebook because I'm just sick of seeing it all. I feel like the country is being ripped apart and there is so much division. Lately I don't even watch the news because to me it's so upsetting. I don't think that it's worth the stress that it causes me.

I'm not sure what is the alternative? I understand the fatigue & frustration, I'm worn out with it, but I don't approve of going into denial or apathy about it for a millisecond either. The sad apathy & nonparticipation of American voters compared to other democracies is how our current situation has arisen. Some western democracies have made it a law for mandatory voting or incur a fine later on taxes.

I don't think that is an ideal answer but am beginning to believe that it is truly a basic national service issue & perhaps we might consider it. If you leave the responsibilities of citizenship to others who knows who will be motivated to rule or why, we should all have skin in the game.

That being said our current politics are undergoing a seismic shift, to me similar to the late 60's when a lot of changes & disruption happened & it was difficult. Just remember that politics is the civilized substitute for war & violence, can't go back to that.

Back in the day 30-40 years ago Demos and Republican, conservate, liberals would work together in smoke filled back rooms. Deals would be stuck and the country would move forward. The word compromise was part of the political process.

I’m tired of people like you who live in a dream world. I hope you don’t get that job in Nashville because you will hate it here, a shining blue economic dot.

I’m tired of watching political news for ratings, so I don’t.

But I’m not tired of discussing it. When you’ve been fooled by liberals for so long, you make it your mission to warn everyone else.

That's interesting. I don't know how much can be blamed on the president, but the working class has been getting shafted for many years. American workers have had a 9.1% income cut since 2006, and the income decline continued in 2017, with 80% of American workers losing ground to inflation.

Do you really think the white working class has been spared the pain? I haven't seen it broken out by race. I should look for those stats, I guess.
