In most countries the police work with animal welfare groups such as the RSPCA in England & Wales.
The RSPCA has Inspectors and Special Units that investigate animal cruelty and they often prosecute offenders and have their own specialist prosecution teams.
So prosecution is not just a matter for the police.
Also one of the main reasons European explorers originally went west, and landed in the Americas, was to find a new passage to the far east was to get around the troublesome muslims. All we hear is exaggerated 'bad' things Europeans have done but never the negative things muslims done and are still doing. Same goes for the history of Indians in the Americas, Africa or the oriental history which isn't all so pleasant.
The Arab/Muslim conquest of Northern Africa was basically the exact same thing that happened in the new world with Europeans and natives.
The indigenous Berbers of Northern Africa were wiped out, systemically cleansed of their culture and force-converted to Islam. The entire population was supplanted by Arab conquerors and colonists.
We never, ever ever spend any time learning about that. And certainly, the Arabs never harbor any ethnic or racial guilt over what their religion and ancestors did. Yet, Europeans do. Europeans always have to be "introspective" while the rest of the world gets a pass for being complete *******s in the past.
Wonder why that is? Maybe they think Europeans are intellectually and morally superior, so what they did was a major failing on their part, as compared to "brown" people and cultures, who have no agency over themselves or their history? It's the only explanation, and it's that soft bigotry of lowered expectations that's very ubiquitous on the left.
Halal is the exact same method of permitted killing as Kosher. If a Jew skinned an animal no one would blame the religion, but because people are ignorant about and hate Islam, that is being blamed.
I hope that you understand that some of us view Islam as NO BETTER than any other terrible ideology on this planet, like Nazism. Just because it's an ideology that its followers believe was handed down from God doesn't make it any better an ideology, and it's an objectively TERRIBLE way to run a society.
If you tell me you're a Muslim I'm going to think you're a) stupid for believing there's a god who revealed his final prophecy to a pedophile goat herder turned mass murdering conqueror in 7th century Arabia, and b) that you must accept all of the Koran and the Hadiths, which actually ARE vile books (the latter Koran especially) that in many ways is indistinguishable from Mein Kampf.
If you don't know that, it is YOU who are truly "ignorant" about the religion you either follow, or support because you think you need to support all religions as equally valid. They're all invalid, but not all religions are equally bad.
The true "religion of peace" is Jainism. Islam is an expansionist, violent religion who sees "peace" on earth only when the entire world is united under an Islamic caliphate (i.e., everyone is Muslim). Given that religion is waning everywhere on earth EXCEPT in the Muslim world, their goal of a unified Caliphate is helped along by people like you who make excuses for it.
OK, just checking because many in this thread are making it all about Muslims. For me, on this particular issue, I appreciate that many Muslims seem to understand the intent of their ancient law (humane for the animals) (and therefore accept stunning) whereas Jews are stuck on the letter of the law, which annoys me.
Of all the wacky cults, I mean religions that we have, those two seem to stand out. Some of the rules for Orthodox Judaism is just downright silly. And the kosher slaughter thing barbaric. But Islam is one of the most backwards barbaric cults that is mainstream today. I just don't see how anyone can align themselves with them, the latter in particular.
I was born and raised Catholic, and then as I got older realized how much Catholicism was filled with hypocrisy I know longer follow.
Now being a meat eater, I tend to not focus on the slaughter of our animals for meat. There is no good way around it. The living conditions for these animals is horrific and even though they try to be humane , their lives are much different than the family pet. That being said, the difference to me, is with these religious "rituals" , they seem to derive enjoyment out of it...especially the Korean Dog thing. This is just my interpretation of it.
Here's the thing, is whomevers imaginary sky god really going to care how the animals we eat are slaughtered ? It just seems silly to me.

Normal butchery involves stunning the animal before killing it, which is the humane way. Muslims don't do that. I don't think I've heard PETA protesting Halal meat, which is strange.
Oh yes, because you care so much for animal welfare. I bet you don't bellyache over the traditional way of how the French make foie gras, which is by force-feeding ducks so much food that their stomachs rip. I bet you don't bat an eye to the absolutely cruel way veal is made or how westerners treat their dairy cows. Dairy farms are probably the single worst offenders for the way they treat their livestock. Skinning a cow alive is dumb, just like every other religion's stupid traditions for the way they supposedly need to prepare their food. But stop pretending like this is a Muslim only issue.
