Ford Motor Company
How many company warnings will it take to convince President Donald Trump that his trade war is backfiring?
In the months since Trump ratcheted up trade tensions with both China and erstwhile U.S. allies such as Canada and Europe, there’s been no stampede of manufacturers back to America’s shores. There has, however, been a growing chorus of complaints about the profit pinch wrought by U.S. and retaliatory tariffs as well as some early warnings about price increases and job cuts. Ford Motor Co., Apple Inc. and Intel Corp. are the latest to rebut Trump’s trade philosophy and lay bare his misjudgment of globalized supply-chain management, echoing grievances from the likes of General Motors Co. and Harley-Davidson Inc.
Strange... Kia, BMW, Hyundai, Toyota can build vehicles here... They cant...
Oh BTW the issue was over the focus, a rolling pile of crap, not being produced here, production going to China.
Trust me. We are not loosing with the focus being axed, and Ford is not hurting from that hunk of crap being killed dead...
I legitimately can not say one good thing about a ford focus of any year.

I have a 2012 Focus with 105K miles on it and it's as good as new.
Funny how most democrats seem to think every CEO and corporation just lie, cheat, and steal...until they tell Trump off, then they are the good guy. Similar to Republicans and Hollywood.

My daughter has a Focus. She has had it for 3 or 4 years and has no complaints.
Ford and GM will likely go bankrupt if China decides to tighten the screw on their Chinese operations as a retaliatory measure. Chinese companies operating in America are few and far between in comparison. I wonder how Michigan and Ohio will react to that? Will a new bailout plan be rolled out, like with the farmers?

In another article, they explained that they only expected the vehicle to sell 50,000 units, so it was not financially worth it to dedicate the manufacturing space to them. They would rather free up their U.S. manufacturing space to focus on their big sellers, like their trucks.
While 50,000 units initially sounds like a lot, in comparison, they sold almost 500,000 Ford F-150s in 2016.
Ford has announced it will concentrate on tucks and SUVs and cease production on all but two cars, the Mustang and the Focus Active (which is a crossover).
What they sell well and what they don't has nothing to do with the POTUS.

Yes, foreign car companies make cars in the US for this market. Ford will be making a car that is predominantly for a market in the country where it will be selling them.
