if this were to go through, imagine all the money Chinese businesses can make selling them online, shipped straight to the user at cheap rates subsidized by the USPS.

The use of e-cigarettes has become an epidemic among teens and needs to be stopped, Food and Drug Administration chief Dr. Scott Gottlieb said Wednesday.

The FDA said it was cracking down hard on sales of vaping products to teenagers and might consider taking e-cigarettes off the market if makers don't do more to stop exponential sales to teenagers. The FDA may also limit the sale of certain flavored products, Gottlieb said.

“We see clear signs that youth use of electronic cigarettes has reached an epidemic proportion, and we must adjust certain aspects of our comprehensive strategy to stem this clear and present danger,” Gottlieb said at a news conference.

Once again big mother hen government is stepping in to control vices and tell people what they can and cannot put in their own bodies. The person leading this charge is (surprise!) a Republican.

"Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin and 10 other senators are urging the Food and Drug Administration to take actions to stop leading e-cigarette Juul from becoming even more popular among kids and teens.
Eleven Democratic senators — including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin, Elizabeth Warren and Tim Kaine — are urging FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb to ban sweet nicotine flavors they say could entice young people."

Yeah, kids shouldn't have easy access to this garbage. Not a fan of overly intrusive government but this vaping stuff is out of control and it's very difficult for schools to get a handle on it since it's so easily concealed.

I an ideal world, government should never take away the rights of adults to "protect the kids" due to the fact that parents don't do their jobs.

Republicans use many of the same arguments for keeping marijuana illegal. Authoritarians are authoritarians.

They have access to endless amounts of junk food and I don’t see folks whining.

It’s ironic that the govnement believes this is a bigger threat than the food Americans put in their body.

Big brother govenenrment to the rescue again, looking for something to ban. What could possibly go wrong?

I don't like it and in fact despise authoritarians but I'm not going to start supporting Republicans over this. Republicans are much more authoritarian when it comes to issues that directly impact me.

https://www.learn-about-alcoholism.c...k-driving.html

Quote:
The average boy takes his first drink at age 11. The average girl, at age 13.
Every day an average of 11,318 teens try alcohol for the first time.
More than half of high school seniors report that they have been drunk at least once.
Three million teens are alcoholics.
Americans drink the heaviest in their teens to mid-twenties. Alcohol use declines after that.
Teens who begin drinking before the age of 15 are four times more likely to become dependent on alcohol as adults than those who do not begin drinking until age 21.
But never mind the evils of alcohol and all of the fruity flavors and pretty umbrellas used to advertise it, hell, they even have fruit flavored beer now.....all advertised on TV where children are sure to see it.

And never mind the glamorization of alcohol consumption seen everywhere.....on TV, in movies, on the internet, in magazines.....all of the beautiful people drink.....and they all solve their problems by having a drink!

Hard day at work? Fix yourself a drink!

Kids getting on your nerves? Have a glass of wine!

Football game on TV this weekend? Don't forget the beer!

Spring Break? YAY......let's all get drunk!

But Hey.......THAT's all OK......because no one wants to give up alcohol for the sake of the children.

Drinking alcohol is politically correct.....so hands off.

The hypocrisy is astounding.
