Another Lie and this ones a doozey.

Surely, we all remember obama and the dems howling with outrageous outrage, denying left and right that the insurance mandate WAS NOT a tax, just a penalty/fee?

Here's the transcript;

Stephanopoulos points out Merriam-Webster definition of taxes to president in interview « Row 2, Seat 4 (http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/09/20/stephanopoulos-points-out-merriam-webster-definition-of-taxes-to-president-in-interview/ - broken link)

Quote:
STEPHANOPOULOS: That may be, but it's still a tax increase.

OBAMA: No. That -- that's not true, George. The -- for us to say that you've got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase.
More of the conversation at the link.

Well now of course, in order to defend the mandate in court, the mandate IS a tax.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/18/he...er=rss&emc=rss

Quote:
When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

While Congress was working on the health care legislation, Mr. Obama refused to accept the argument that a mandate to buy insurance, enforced by financial penalties, was equivalent to a tax.
Well, who didn't know this wouldn't happen?

The rable will rise when they realize that their premiums will rise more than if we had done nothing. The other lie to hit the press this week was that although Obama stood in front of congres and stated that there would be no government funds for abortions, this week the first funds were released. So the good senator that yelled "you lie" was right, he lies.

Geeze..the fact that the IRS was going to oversee this should have let you all know that this WAS a tax.

IRS manages taxes, not healthcare. A "penalty" paid to the IRS ? LOL on those that drank the kool-aid.

Yep. Kinda like how Obama used the CBO to show obamacare would reduce the deficit by ignoring medicare payments to doctors.

Of course the real CBO figures after obamacare was passed show that there will, in fact, be a deficit once medicare payments to doctors are figured into the calculations.

CBO: Obamacare = at least $109 Billion in Deficit Spending | CentristNet

Only liberals like Obama who are out of touch with fiscal reality would think that a new entitlement program would cut the deficit.

Well, those of us who saw through the BS and lies, like 2/3 rds of the nation who opposed obamacare KNEW this and the others that supported obama and his new $2 Trillion dollar entitlement program couldn't give a damn that he and the dems lied through their teeth in order to get it passed.

I notice the "usual suspects" - liberals - are sheepishly quiet on this thread. I wonder why that is?
