I wish her the best over her remaining days or weeks.

Indeed - if only she opened it more often!

Negative. They have a major role based on when they choose to retire. They are ALL aware of that and thus make that choice judiciously.

The Grimm Reaper also has a say. And he doesn't care about the politics of the matter. Hopefully she won't hang on until the bitter end, and that is all it is now, like the war monger John McCain. Those pictures of her are just sad. Sad bitter woman, mad that Hillary didn't win, so caught up in politics that she clings to that seat with nothing left to live for.

She could have resigned during the Obama administration and given him the chance to save that seat for the liberals. Now, all they do, is hope and pray that the GR doesn't come calling for a dance before 2024. He won't be denied.

She can be like Robert Bird - they can wheel her in on a gurney.

There's like a 70%+ chance she won't make it her stated "five more years" span of time though. I think it was like 78% against. I looked it up when she made that statement.

That's not a "role". That's a personal decision. It has nothing to do with who is appointed. COTUS and POTUS are the only ones who will determine WHO is appointed to the bench.

Sadly I think some posters on here see this as from a "our team" perspective. Those on the left would hate to see Ginsburg go with Trump in office, having nothing to do if she should go. Some begged her to leave when Obama was potus, not wanting to risk her being too old if an (R) was elected. Now of course they desperately want her to stay.
That is a pure political and ideological stance, and hypocrisy too boot.
Yet they hate the idea of a Kavanaugh or any moderate to conservative getting on court is abhorrent to them.
People age. I’m aware of what she used to be like.

I’m quite sure she’s still mentally sound. She’s just old.
