In the summer of 2016, Nikki Haley warned that if Republican candidate Donald Trump did not change his rhetoric, the consequences could be deadly.
“I know what that rhetoric can do,” Haley told the Associated Press weeks before the anniversary of a racially driven massacre at an African American church in her home state of South Carolina. “I saw it happen.”
Because they don't want Trump supporting a candidate running against them. They know that's what will happen if Trump turns against them and goes on the attack, they are afraid of losing their district. And if Trump turns against them, most likely most people in their district will do the same. All Trump have to do is say the words, no question asked and everybody will flee them.
Trump has the ability to push people over the edge.
In the case of Republicans, he can campaign on their behalf with some effect.
In the case of Dems, he pushes them over the edge of sanity.
