Between 1892 and 1924, 22 million immigrants entered the port of Ellis island, do you think they were all saints? Do you think that we did not gain experience in how to deal with the problems inherent in such masses of people? Do you think that we have since become such incompetence dolts that we cannot handle a relative handful of refugees ? Trump thinks so, and is taking the road that is most likely to create problems instead of success. Vet them, disallow the undesirables and allow the desirables and process them legally. America was once known for its creativity and ability to make the most massive and most difficult projects look easy. We have 20,000 Border Patrol troops on that border, that can easily handle any security issues that arise. And Americans can easily handle the issues of vetting and processing the refugees. Lets just to it with the proficiency we are known for. This not a catastrophe, its an opportunity, so lets ignore Trumps violent nonsense, and just do the work.

Jumping the border is a bit different then Ellis Island

In the words of Bob Dylan " The times they are a changing "

They've made a choice to break OUR laws !

At the end of the day they are just illegal aliens who have no respect
for America or OUR laws...Actions speak louder then words

US population 1924: 114 million
US population 2018: 327 million

Most aren't refugees. They just want to be here. Just like tens of millions from all over the world. There's a process - an actual, orderly process - established for those individuals who may be actual refugees. if they choose to ignore that process, and attempt to invade our nation, they need to be stopped.

The rest? The vast majority in all of those caravans currently heading north? Don't want them. Don't need them. Shouldn't have to take them.

That is so TRUE so lets get to building the wall !

Of course the country could absorb 7000 poor low skilled people that do not share our culture nor speak our common language, and of course there will be a percentage of criminals, robbers, drunk drivers, child molesters, rapist and murderers mixed in with the migrants and considering how we already have so many of that type of scum whats a few thousand more tossed in?

The thing is we can absorb the 7000 migrants but what about the next caravan and the one after that etc etc... When the going gets tough in Central and South America they can all organize and hike here to the states the land of freedom, opportunity and handouts.

The problem is when our homeland becomes like the homeland they were fleeing from rife with violence, corruption and economic disparity where are we supposed to go? Canada?

"Vet them, disallow the undesirables and allow the desirables and process them legally."
Good idea. First we must stop them from pouring over the border the way they did into Mexico.
And "pour over the border" is exactly what they intend to do. They intend to overwhelm our legal system, our Border Patrol and our checkpoints and evidently you think that's fine. It isn't.
So we're going to stop them, hold them until we identify them and clear the ones for entry who are truly qualified. What's the problem with that? It's exactly what you said we should do!

100 years ago our population has half the size that it is now, blacks and women couldn’t vote, and polio was wiping out people everywhere.

You really think we ought to roll back to this kinder gentler era you are romanticizing?

There are now more than 50 million Spanish speakers in the United States.

We have allowed in enough people from Latin American countries. It's time for it to stop or be reduced dramatically.

Listen up! end the welfare state, privatize the borders and then you can quit worrying about where everyone else is from.

In 1918 the Spanish Flu killed 700 thousand people in the USA alone! Many of them poor immigrants...
