"Could you please provide some specific examples--or statistics would help--that are NOT the police doing the shooting?"

The Va Law School shooter was stopped by 2 "students"

"Thanks to a recent FBI report, we have more data on 2016-17. The FBI found 50 shootings throughout the U.S. that it labeled "active shooter incidents"—"one or more individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area." Of those, four involved situations where the FBI believes that "citizens possessing valid firearms permits successfully stopped the shooter." (Four others involved "unarmed citizens [who] confronted or persuaded the shooter to end the shooting.")"

A LITTLE research would stop you from making a fool of your self with your silly question, especially since IMO, you are claiming it NEVER happens.

But, THAT IS THE POINT.

If the police are NOT on the scene, how long does it take for them to get there? "In the event of a tragedy, when seconds matter, help is minutes away."

How many are KILLED BEFORE the police arrive?

After the police arrive , how long does it take to set up, get organized, come up with a plan, etc.?

How many are killed WAITING for all this to happen.

Even IF the police do get there in a reasonable, time are they going to act like some of the police did at Parkland?

May of you live in fantasy world thinking the police CAN get there in an instant and IMMEDIATELY STOP a mass shooter.

Someone TRAINED on the use of a gun ON THE SCENE COULD possibly stop the mass shooter.

"So I just don't comprehend the entire concept"

That is OBVIOUS!

"When you keep YOUR coll, when EVERYBODY else LOSES THEIRS, MAYBE YOU haven't GRASPED the situation", as they say!

"Are you perhaps a little paranoid and mistrustful of people in general?"

What an insulting remark to make.

You ADMIT YOU DON'T comprehend and live in Utopias THINKING these types of things NEVER HAPPEN.

UNFORTUNATELY they DO HAPPEN, THOUSANDS OF TIME A YEAR.

Just because you were in those cities and nothing happened to YOU does NOT mean it did NOT happen to thousand of others.

Why don't ypu look the gun crimes committed in those cities you mentioned? You MIGHT learn something.

It is like insurance of ALL types. You THINK something might happens and statistics backs it up, so you are PREPARED.

Are you "Are you perhaps a little paranoid and mistrustful of people in general?", about a car accident? A fire at you place of living, of getting sick?

Is THAT why you carry homeowner's, car and health insurance, paranoia and mistrust of people?

"If you are saying you don't go anywhere unless you have your gun, I believe that is an insane way to live"

Do you have life insurance everywhere you g?

Do you have car insurance EVERY TIME you drive?

Do you have homeowners insurance 24/7?

I BELIEVE you are a lot smarter then what you are showing on the thread and just like to "stir" things up"' . in a very IMMATURE way!

NOBODY is this stupid as they would have to be to ask such ridiculous questions and make such ridiculous statements.

What could go wrong?
Ah, the fruit of legislators passing ineffective laws and refusing to address the issue of gun violence except through the lens of gun control as the sole solution. The result of prosecuting the guy in DC who had an empty shell casing on his desk by activist judges and prosecutors, who allow plea deals for crimes of violence and refuse to prosecute people lying on permit applications. Pass all the gun laws you want, they would not have stopped the guy just released frm prison in NJ who obtained an illegal firearm and shot up the crowd in a gang dispute at an all night art festival. That idiot gov decided to address the problem by reducing mag capacity from 15 to 10. Rest easy murphy is on the job in Nj and Obama has declared places like NJ the safest, because they have the strictest gun control.

When people see the illogical approach the law has taken to make them safe, they realize they must assume responsibility to protect themselves.

Why do legislators and anti-gun movement accept the loss of innocent lives in pursuit of their no guns, no gun violence philosophical theory?

Laws are for the law abiding, pass all the laws you want, knowing the bad guys will ignore them. If laws were so effective, then pass one outlawing the use of firearms to murder another human?

Why continue to ignore the problem of gun violence which is committed largely by gangs and career criminals in predictible. their death toll far outpaces the shootings by the mentally compromised. Each category requires a different approach!

the media news reports are far too detailed and act as a 'how to' for the next shooter who has not spent hours in front of a violent video game. Remember Obama said it was a VIDEO which caused the attck on Benghazi!!!!!

California was another alleged case of PTSD, so rather than arm ourselves to the teeth to protect against depressed veterans, let's address the PTSD issue. Really address it--nobody has. And we still have not addressed the mental health issue of civilian shooters.

"Waiting to die"? I don't know what that means really. I believe I am more likely to die on a Florida highway than in a mass shooting. That's what I look out for--bad drivers. But, I don't think about dying during my day--I just go about my life--I don't see leaving the house as a war. Guns are just not part of my consciousness--they never cross my mind.

As far as the mall, my philosophy is simple. Many stores that keep cash have guns--that is understandable and prudent. But, I will never carry a gun to go shopping. If it ever gets to the point where mass shootings are a common weekend occurrence at malls and the grocery store, I'll be moving to a less violent country. I have no desire to live in the wild west.

What does the mall do about bombings? Do you avoid large events and sports games because someone might bomb the arena? What do people in cars do about snipers? Don't go swimming because you might drown or get bit by a shark? Don't drive because someone may hit you head on?
My daughter has worked Mall and Retail Store Security for 20 years in NY and in Florida. Malls/stores are not Gun Free Zones. Ever see a sign outside of Walmart saying so?

However, Security is not allowed to carry. That includes off duty LEO's or former Military. Store employee policy. They want to carry then find another place of employment.

Daughter has made a lot of busts in 20 years, but it never involved a gun carrying shoplifter, although she was maced once by the perp.

Only once was there an active shooter. Food Court. Not a mass shooter, but a jilted lover who shot his former GF and her new boyfriend. She said the scene was total panic, especially with babies in strollers, with hundreds (Holiday shoppers) of people trying to get out of the Mall when they heard the gun shots. Employees were escorting people out store exits. This perp just wanted to FLEE the scene. I wonder where were these armed shoppers? They didn't want to take him down????? They probably ran along with all the others.

Bombs? They sound the fire alarm and ask people to just leave. I was once in a Publix where the fire alarm went off. A lot of people just kept SHOPPING and ignored the alarm, or waited outside until they could go back inside. We learned after that someone had called in a bomb threat to the store. Nope, their guns wouldn't help in that situation.

Hell ya it is. No one has a search warrant to search travel trailers and RVs. If someone were dumb enough to start shooting at a race they wouldn't be doing it for long.
