OP: Today is Veteran's day! Thanks to all our vets and active duty servicemen/women.

Some of you: I don't want to say thank you.

Get over yourself already! It's not all about you or your opinion.

Take your own advice then..

Someone has an opinion that I don't like!

Except: This thread has nothing to do with opinion.

Are you going to somebody's birthday party and tell them how much you hate birthday parties? lol

Get over yourself already. LOL

Gee, one of the benefits my husband got was Parkinson's disease, likely from using water from wells on base that were contaminated by jet fuel.

I'll convey your thanks to him for his service.

What does that have to do with me? Blame the government. And is he not getting disability payments for it and a pension?

No pension, no benefits.

It has simply never occurred to him to take benefits. I think it's because he sees so many Vets so much worse off than him.

What would happen if a govt declared a war and no soldiers showed up? No war.

I realize I am in the very, very small minority. So be it. Veterans Day is very somber, for very, very different reasons than most. I have no desire to debate anyone, just wanted to put this viewpoint out there. I feel very sad for the soldiers, all around.

As much as I like and often agree with Lillyflower --- Your post was very accurate and fantastic.

Not only do we need to employ direct action and immediately try to maim or kill the leadership behind these wars---even if its on our own side---but far more importantly, we need to kill the international bankers and their very system that finances these wars and keeps them going while they lavish in luxery.

If the United States lost its ability to engage in deficit spending and incur 21 trillon in debt, these wars and the phony war on terror would have been over long ago.

Oh, well in that case, we should just call off this holiday all together. Oh, but wait a minute, there are still a lot of veterans from WW2 and even more who fought in Vietnam who are still alive today. Many of which were DRAFTED into service. In fact, during WW2 66% of the armed forces were drafted into service. Not to mention the 25% of our armed forces who were serving "in country" in Vietnam were also drafted into service. Around 500,000 WW2 vets were still alive in this country as of 2017. As of 2004, there were around 2.5 million vets still alive who had served "in country" in Vietnam. Those are some pretty high numbers. I'd be willing to guess there are still hundreds of thousands of veterans alive today who were actually drafted into military service and served our country. And they absolutely deserve your thanks.
