Smut is good for you if done in moderation just like alcohol.

As I already posted, regulations on porn are the progressive position, not "ultra-conservative." Prostitution was largely tolerated in the US until the 20th century. It was the progressives who passed the Mann Act in 1910, which was the beginning of the end of general legal prostitution. And it has been progressives largely who have battled against on-line trafficking, such as craigslist and backpage. A few conservatives may have come along for the ride, but the heavy lifting has been done by progressives.

It's no different than with the gun-control issue. It is progressives who have pushed, and conservatives who have resisted common sense controls.

Little known secret is that the US Supreme Court justices would have "porno viewing nights" where they as a group (when it was an all male court in the late 60's and 70's) would sit and watch the movies under the guise of judging whether they were obscene or not. It was done with the cover of serious jurisprudence reasons but they supposedly acted like any other group of dudes watching them and looked forward to new stuff to "judge".

Porn keeps federal employees occupied. they might act out violently if they had to focus on work for the entire day. You wouldn't want them going postal would you?

Can somebody explain to me why it's illegal to be caught with a prostitute, but if you hire one to film an adult video and distribute it online to thousands of paying customers it's legal?

An excellent point that progressives should address, but won't. It also carries the implication that porn should be much more closely regulated, and in some cases, outright banned.

Victimless crimes are a waste of time prosecuting. Prostitution should be legal and regulated.

Have some Puritans immigrated here recently?
