the president of the Tigertones, a senior named Wesley Brown, announced in a letter to The Daily Princetonian that the group would temporarily remove the song from its set list in response to complaints that it is misogynistic and violates the principle of consent.
Sabastian the crab glorifies toxic masculinity.

the crab sings: “Don’t be scared/You got the mood prepared/Go on and kiss the girl.”
In her piece, Wollstein wrote that “such expressions imply that not using aggressive physical action to secure Ariel’s sexual submission makes Eric weak — an irrefutable scaredy-cat. Applied outside of the realm of the movie, these statements suggest that masculinity is contingent on domination of women. This attitude can catalyze violent tendencies toward, and assault against, women.”

I wonder if this guy knows that crabs don't have the power of speech in real life?

I seem to remember it was the girl who was desperate to kiss the boy for her own reasons in that movie...

'Tis true.

What we have here is a case of s*ut shaming.

Assuming that a cartoon mermaid can be shamed.

If people followed all the leftist/liberal/progressive kooky nonsense, many of us would never have been born, because the mating rituals of western civilization would be so structured as to take all the fun and chance out of it.

I aggressively pursued girls in HS, and girls did the same with me. I imagine in the 50's and before girls needed to act demure and chased so as to not be considered a "bad girl".
The idea that in this day and age stealing a kiss is somehow wrong is totally absurd, especially when equated with forcible sexual assault.
But liberal kooks and/or feminists would have you believe the two are one in the same.

Except if Sebastion was an LGBT transgender, then they would sing the song all the live long day, triumphant in their celebration of "tolerance". But hetero? meh, not so much. No tolerance there.

True, regardless. Men better really make sure that what they want is a sterile world, devoid of intimacy.

Bingo

It is fairly well known in a general sense that homosexuals can be very promiscuous, bold and aggressive in their pursuit of sexual interests.
Thus if as you pointed out, if it was character who was not straight, it would probably be considered a hate crime to be critical of their "lifestyle choice".

Much of this is just part of the leftist agenda as outlined by Saul Alinsky, who believed to overthrow the power structure it must be done from within. Make everything seem the opposite of what it is, where all traditions and norms seem wrong.
Then when the ensuing chaos and discontent is great enough among the general populace, a leftist revolution can occur.

Sadly with the internet and social media, small examples of kooks doing things now can get worldwide attention if it goes viral. Where in the past few of these local stories would have gotten beyond the local paper.
Now fellow leftist kooks use this to their advantage to try and magnify such things, hoping normal people just throw up their hands thinking the culture has gone mad.
In reality the kooks are still in the minority, but social media and communication platforms make it seem as if the kooks are in the majority.
