Oh grow up, typos happen. That has nothing to do with whether Shapiro is an idiot or not.
Shapiro is very intelligent but also very dishonest. His entire debate strategy is to speak very fast knowing full well that people will have trouble digesting what he said in those strictly formatted debates. On his show he speaks slowly (or at least normally).
I dislike him, but you aren't. I'm probably not either. He just misuses and falls short of his potential in choosing to be a Neocon cutout who is trying to finesse the Right of 2018. He was entertainment for about a month. He has no novel ideas. He can structure and articulate arguments well, which is a sign of intelligence.
If you want to listen to what a smart sounds like, listen to any substantial Peter Thiel lecture (or better, listen to his Zero to One book for free on youtube). Or listen to the five part interview series on youtube by his Stanford mentor, Rene Girard (on mimesis; highly recommended). These are examples of modern smart men (RIP Girard). Shapiro is a well spoken parrot in comparison.
I disagree.
Intelligence has been defined in many ways, including: the capacity for logic, understanding, self-awareness, learning, emotional knowledge, reasoning, planning, creativity, and problem solving.
From such a definition we can look at Shapiro step by step. Logic isn’t his strong suit evidently as he makes false logical conclusions all the time. He believes if sea levels rise people will just sell their beachfront property and move inland, as if such property could even be sold or the fact that massive affects on agricultural and vegetation would affect everyone, something the market is not prepared for. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. He also says anyone who gets married, has a job, and doesn’t have sex out of wedlock will be successful ignoring the huge amount of external factors that make these effects, not causes of a high living standard.
Understanding we can also right off as he doesn’t know what socialism means, he doesn’t understand the situation in the Middle East besides Israel good, Arabs bad (and the implications with his own friendly behavior to the Saudis). Self-awareness is a maybe, some say he is just doing it for the money, but it’s difficult to judge how extensive that self-awareness is if it is even there. Learning I don’t know.
Emotional knowledge is zero, his arbitrary facts over feelings and his break from such a saying when it comes to issues he supports requires a great deal of emotional arrogance and a lack of empathy (purposeful of otherwise). Reasoning is not there with him for the same reason he fails at the logic test.
Creativity and problem solving too can be considered not part of Shapiro’s mental capacity as he never offers a solution to any of the problems brought forth.
He lazily rights off climate change, war, poverty, and other issues as policies we need to continue unabated and let the free markets solve. Even if you believe in the free markets that answer offers no suggestions to how our policies might be affecting it in the first place.
Shapiro is an intelligent dude, but he plays a role of a pundit. I'm not sure if it's an act to make a living or a commitment of his. But yeah. He does often say silly things. The one on climate change is one of many questionable statements he has made.
Even in this article it fails to mention the affects on agriculture and vegetation rising sea levels would have, but quick talking frauds like Shapiro trick simple minded people.
Shapiro thinks global warming means people need to sell there beach front property and move inland.
Can you imagine what a monumental stupid statement that is?
Shapiro would get destroyed in a debate with Michael Savage..
