Baby, It's Cold Outside is a very old song, and has been recorded multiple times. I've heard at least 3 different couples singing this song this year, and the lyrics are innocuous. It's a very lighthearted, fun song. And the "what's in this drink?" comment by the woman is accompanied by a laugh. In every version, you can almost see the couple smiling throughout the give-and-take song.
Happily, saner minds have prevailed, and this still remains a very popular holiday song. Too bad Cleveland's 102.9 is catering to the men-hating, fringe element of the metoo movement. Oh, and no wonder they're saying that the poll results for whether to play this song are "unavailable."
Fire by the Pointer Sisters, written and recorded by ultra liberal Bruce Springsteen
I did NOT know that.
But if these crazed groups are going to kvetch about an upbeat song like Baby, It's Cold Outside, they need to listen to Fire. It's the ultimate "No means yes" song.
I'm not young, and I've never been sexually assaulted, but I have to admit that long before the "Metoo" movement I found the song unsettling. It's a little creepy.
