What's going to happen "prophet" NewToCA?
Acceptance and acceleration of technological advances will create better opportunities for energy independence. Lower dollar and advancing worldwide consumerism creates more production (especially agricultural) opportunities.

This is just a sliver, much of what will happen isn't known at this time. However, we will have significant advances making life easier and more fulfilling.

It's a pity that it's going to be china that gets the upper hand in technology.

Don't hold your breath with that prediction.

I hope it's one prediction that doesn't come true!

One reason I am certain it won't be true is the high value in China on order and cooperation. The USA is a confrontational and messy place, but as a byproduct of all of this friction is a creative spark that just won't happen in a centrally controlled society.

Yes but China has cheap obedient labour. None of the countries really care about the morals of China. All they see is cheap products. That is a bait that not many can refuse to snap up.

Techology is creativity and problem solving, not China strengths. Their strong point is low cost production, but this is a risk due to technological enhancements automating production processes and competiton from other low cost production countries.

Look, I never stated the USA doesn't have problems and challeges. However, I would bet that we are way ahead of anyone else a decade from now, and way ahead of where we are today. Problems and challenges cause creativity, and enlightenment (and a new series of problems to solve).

I hope you are right. The only problem is that America is getting tired of solving problems. So much effort is put into solving problems abroad that not enough time or money is left to put into the USA.

The average Chinese manufacturer makes less than two cents on the dollar for tech goods exported to the US.

Low-wage workers can take an economy only so far.

I have to scoff at folks who worry about China withdrawing its support for US bonds. Without a healthy US consumer base, China will have to feed its people with iPods.

To me that translates into: not foreigners owning the US pie, but the US gov't pushing policy down our throats. Our beef is at our own gov't, not foreign gov'ts. I don't think any demise of the UK has anymore to do with foreigners than it does with the UK's own gov.
I agree, probably because you are right.

So whataya say we take up arms and take over both govts. Maybe we the peons, oops I mean we the people can take both our countries back.
