The GOP has abandoned moderates and they are fleeing. Not unexpected. The Republican Party's hard turn to the extreme right and its insistence on total adherence has brought this about.

Same thing happened here in WV with the governor. Ran as a (D) but then quickly switched to (R). I enjoy rubbing it in the face of my friends that said "Blue, no matter who".

We kicked the head of the school board out, he lost re election. Then after the election another school board member resigned so the school board installed the ousted member in as his replacement. Now I just vote against every one of them if they're incumbents.

Elections choose the PERSON who will serve, not a political party.
The Constitution does not recognize or mention political parties at all.
There is no "betrayal." These two statehouse legislators are perfectly within their rights to switch parties.
If the voters don't like it, they can boot them out at the next election.

This thread is just sour grapes.

He played the Democratic game to be popular

He turned GOP because he knew he didn't stand a chance to get nomination in Democratic primary
And he is racist or certainly doesn't mind masquerading as one to capture the alt-right racist base--
Was building base on GOP/alt-right conservative side when he lead the Birtherism attack against Obama
But Trump has very mixed history of espousing liberal social (like ok w/abortion until Mike Pence because his acolyte) and conservative economics
Has wanted tariffs, has wanted strong dollar which hurts free trade but helps developers

That's up to their voters to decide, not you or me.

I don't know what their individual political arithmetic calculations were, but I'm sure those calculations included a) their own feelings b) their own judgement of where their voters are going c) their own estimation of whether their political agenda could best be promoted in the R party or the D party.

Why don't you consider the possibility that maybe their voters either don't mind or are actually fine with their switch? To take a couple of national examples, do you think that either Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins would lose their elections if they switched parties?

Their voters are free to recall them. But again - it's up to those voters.

Nothing new about elected pols switching parties. Nothing illegal about it either.

Believing in stupid things a candidate says is indeed stupid! "Mexico will pay for the wall!"
"Would you be so kind as to post that list?"

Wasn't hard to find IF you know how to do an Internet search.

"Believing in stupid things a candidate says is indeed stupid!" I'm STILL waiting for my $2,500 a YEAR savings and all those "shovel ready" jobs promised. "I guess we DIDN'T have as MANY shovel ready jobs as I thought, ha-ha" but the 800 BILLION was spent anyway, just NOT on shovel ready jobs.
