Trump is now saying that if he doesn't get funding for his wall, that he'll be "forced" to close our border with Mexico. He's gone completely mad, in his desperation to save face over his demands for wall funding. There's more than half a trillion dollars of commerce flowing in both directions over that border every year and it would cause a chaotic mess to halt it.

If closing border works in stopping the illegals then why build the wall in the first place?
Please do it.

The import and export can continue with air cargo.

The Democrats might have at least tried a little more give-and-take with Trump. Now the reaction is, as you intimated, akin to a hostage-taking (or rather threat thereof) with an attendant ransom demand.

Seems like the right thing to do.

Its gone on for long enough. Maybe shutting it down will inspire the Mexican gov. to do something to halt illegals from coming up thru their country to gain entry to the U.S. By the way, he's receiving a lot of flack for trying to stop illegals from pouring in, yet someone has to.

Trump is a fool and will not be satisfied until he destroys America.

There is a billion dollars in trade a day going across the border every day. That is a billion dollars a day that will hit wall street and the every day Americans pocket in produce and finished goods including the automotive industry, the back bone of US industry. Trump is holding federal employees hostage and now threating to hold US citizens hostage for a stupid wall.

Best thing he could do. Sew that country up or better yet nuke it. Maybe make a ditch all the away across and bring in some crocs from Africa to eat em up when they try to swim across.
