Webb HATED Dubya, Rumsfeld, Cheney, and the whole defense establishment under Dubya’s cronies...and Bush at least served his country. If he had no use for Dubya, you can forget Trump.

If I know Jim Webb like I think I know him, he’s not gonna serve under a president that he doesn’t respect. That just doesn’t sound like him.
That's my thoughts.

From what I've read about Jim Webb, he is a clear thinking individual. It is difficult to imagine him signing on for berth on the Trumptanic.

Who in their right mind would sign on as Secretary of Defense for a President who doesn't consult with the Secretary of Defense about military matters? Who may very well insist on his grand parade on Memorial Day?

I would have voted for Jim Webb for president. If Jim Webb had been the DNC candidate against Trump, I would have voted for Jim Webb. But Jim Webb is an old school Democrat; loves America and doesn't hate himself for being White. He wouldn't/didn't have a chance in Today's DNC.

I wrote him in, I refused to vote for either of the two major parties' political hacks.

Every time I've seen an interview with Webb he impressed me as being trustworthy, more important to me than political stance. I think him well-qualified to be SECDEF but have my doubts he'd want to put up with Trump's BS.

While he may be similar to Trump as far as party affiliation as the cited article states, I'd say the similarity comes to a sudden stop right there. Webb very much appears to have character and integrity, qualities completely absent in Trump.

I like Webb. I wanted him to be the Dem candidate in 2016. He's smart, tough and a combat veteran.

I doubt that he would take any position under tRump, but ya just never know.

If he has no more political ambitions, he might do it just to try to keep tRump from going over the edge and doing something catastrophic.

But if he sees a future for himself in DC, he'll go nowhere this White House.

Webb was the one democrat that sounded sane during the debates. Then, he only got 1% of the vote telling me how insane the Democrats had become.

Its more complicated than that.

The DNC does not tell elected Democrats what to do, Its basically only responsible for giving money to the state parties to make sure they can recruit candidates and keep offices open. Pay lawyers in case they are needed, and organize primaries.

so in short, no , it does not run them . Tom Perez cant tell Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelsoi what to do.

Yet he is a good man.
That has nothing to do with his campaign ability.

um sure.
You're being disingenuous here. You know quite well that the DNC influences the positions that candidates take on issues like abortion or guns (issues that kill Dem candidates in rural areas) based upon those $$$$. Highly influential.

Well, it sure won't be the Trump supporters who have ballooned the deficit to ungodly amounts WHILST he promoted socialism in the form of massive bailouts.

Republicans are NOT and never have been the 'party of small government'. The pretense is over.

My post more or less went to the core of what an American is. Democrats tend to not have a problem with those who do not look like them, where as many republicans do.

But out of curiosity, what big government policy are Dems responsible for that has destroyed this country ?

Seems to me in the grand scheme of things, America is fine, regardless of flawed republican policies

"america for americans" is an argument for retaining the republic, that doesnt make it good.

The DNC is responsible for putting forth generalized beliefs( the party platform), but it is obvious that candidates and elected officials can hold other beliefs. , so no, you are being far more disingenuous than you are claiming I was.
