Isn't it ironic how these anti-wall, anti-Trump people in here first say he is being stubborn and not willing to compromise and is hurting the country by shutting down the government and in the next breath when he does compromise by accepting less than what he is asking for they call him weak and that he caved in? Unbelievable!
Not really. He is just kind of dumb. The month shutdown got him 300 million for border security The political capital expended was simply not worth. Had he not abruptly changed stances he could have gotten the 1.3 without any shutdown. He just had a losing hand and was never going to get 5.7 explicitly for a wall
“It's an easy decision for Mexico: make a one-time payment of $5- 10 billion to ensure that $24 billion continues to flow into their country year after year.”

How many times do I have to repeat that the $1.3 billion wasn't to include any new barriers before you all get it? That was Trump's objection and why he shut down the government.

This raises an interesting question. Some of that older fencing really does need to be rebuilt or replaced. Do you use funds for THAT purpose at what are arguably the high-pressure locations OR ...
do you use funds to build in areas of lesser importance in order to be able to point to "new" footage?
No, no, no, Old Gringo, don't call it a fence! Now it's a barrier. You'll note that they all are using that term now, instead of the wall they insisted on only weeks ago. They are subtly admitting defeat already, because even they know now there ain't gonna be no great big beautiful wall.
Now they'll all pretend a barrier (i.e. fence) was what they wanted all along. Don't you remember all of those chants at his rallies calling for a great big barrier? LOL.
Donald Trump say Mexicans are dangerous! Why isn't there a travel ban to Mexico from the United States?
Democrats believe that the all-encompassing federal government should ban them from traveling to dangerous countries. Thereby saving everyone from everything.
Has the American government banned travel to any country? The idea that you would expect the federal government to do that says an awful lot about where your mind is. If they DID ban travel to some country, you would be all up in arms about that, too.
