One of the worst kept secrets in government, is that illegal aliens cost taxpayers far more than the illegals pay in any taxes.

The open-borders loons are either sadly ignorant of the subject they claim to know the best... or they are deliberately lying about it.

The swelling population of illegal immigrants and their kids is costing American taxpayers $135 billion a year, the highest ever, driven by free medical care, education and a huge law enforcement bill, according to the most authoritative report on the issue yet.

And despite claims from pro-illegal immigration advocates that the aliens pay significant off-setting taxes back to federal, state and local treasuries, the Federation for American Immigration Reform report tallied just $19 billion, making the final hit to taxpayers about $116 billion.

Wrong.

Suggesting that the roads and city services they use would be saved if they left is absurd.

Those roads and cops are needed whether they are here or not.

Try again

Which is why nobody suggested it, except one leftist loon.

Nice try. But many of those cops would NOT be needed if the illegal aliens weren't here.

Try again.

I think the point is they take up a lot of services in both salaries and use. The more people in a community the more burden there is on the infrastructure like roads, sewer, water usage. As far as illegals this is compounded by their common living arrangements of several families living in a one family unit.
More officers are needed due to the increase in crime and traffic accidents, plus interpreters, court personnel, more teachers including interpreters or ESL classes, more medical personnel or at least more man hours are needed.
I wouldn't think there is much additional burden on the fire department.

I'm sure they add some costs but to suggest it's 135 billion is absurd, that's Hungary's total GDP.

Not to mention that they do pay taxes, sales taxes, utility taxes, real estate taxes, income tax, social security, etc...

So if anything they put in the same or more than they take

Isn't it hilarious how the liberal fanatics try to pretend that if there's ONE thing the illegal aliens aren't placing a burden on, then that means they aren't placing a burden on ANYTHING?

And the lib fanatics wonder why nobody listens to them any more.

The problem with democrats is that they would gladly raise taxes on their own fellow citizens in order to pay to keep the illegal non-citizens here.

Why not get rid of the illegals and use that money towards safety nets for our own citizens?

The article addressed the taxes - $18 billion. I think the point is that it is expensive. Whether it is $116 billion more than they pay in or $80 billion more than they pay in, it's expensive to citizens. I know one thing people would be absolutely shocked at is the additional price tag for education alone. On average a child with immigrant parents, legal or not, costs $2,900 more per year to educate than the child of American citizens in the 2014-2015 school year.

The IRS estimates that at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants are using stolen social security numbers. That's 1.4 million cases of identity theft that the victims have to deal with (and pay for).

Thousands more use the SSNs of dead people.

Ever go to a construction site in North Carolina? You'll see lots of illegal aliens working there. Many of those crews are all working under the exact same SSN. So while 8 or 10 guys are working SS taxes are only being paid through a single SSN. I've seen it myself. Contractors do this because it's far less expensive for them and they can underpay the crew. Happens all the time. And many of them live in Colonias on farms, so they pay nothing in property taxes.
