The new law went into effect today, and it has teeth. No sales of semi-automatic weapons to people under 18, more extensive background checks, a strict 10-day waiting period, and criminal liability for those who allow their guns to fall into the hands of someone who uses them for unlawful purposes (community endangerment). Washington has taken a huge and rational step forward.

It's a good first step, but doesn't go nearly far enough. One good suggestion: Anyone ever convicted of drunk driving or public drunkenness, should never be permitted to possess a firearm. That would be bad news for about 90% of the gun nuts.

Better yet, those convicted of driving stoned or drunk should be banned from owning and operating cars for life. Since liberals want to restrict rights, let’s severely restrict a privilege.

No doubt...the biggest fans of this news are violent criminals and stupid, gun grabbing liberals.

Clearly unconstitutional. That's the same as outlawing sales.
