Stop chuckling and realize that your own view may be the result of all the anti-'50s propaganda you've read. Beaver's American dream in the suburbs with a stay-at-home mom was indeed the kind of life many had then, and many others aspired to.
Give me a break. It's not anti-1950's, it's just reality.
The real world isn't a sitcom, let alone a 1950's highly-censored sitcom.
I grew up in the "American dream" suburbs with a stay-at-home mom. And while my childhood was wonderful (and I'm forever grateful to have been blessed with such a family and childhood), it was nowhere near Leave it to Beaver. lol...come on, man.
Seinfeld and Friends were a blot on the 90s. Neither had any racial diversity to speak of even though they were both supposed to occur in diverse NYC.
Then, just like the folks in the OP link who are supposedly offended by it, don't watch. I always loved "Seinfeld." "Friends" got tired and boring after a few years. I did like Chandler and Monica together though
Friends was a very progressive show at the time. It wasn’t perfect. It was a bit whitebread and sometimes homophobic but by 1994 standards it was way ahead of its time.
Whitebread.
Does this term have any actual descriptive power beyond it's use as a racial insult? Why not just say, "there were too many white people on the show".
I don't allow things to have enough power over me to be offensive. If I don't like something, I ignore it. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch Seinfeld, nor Leave it to Beaver. If either of them actually offend you maybe consider therapy, or changing the channel.
Nope. Now you are no longer allowed to do that. If you are offended by something, you are required to boycott sponsors and get it taken off the air.

I've never thought about it and never seen the show. Now someone is going to tell me that "The Flash" discriminates against slow people.
The correct term is "speed disadvantaged".
