LOL at the bill number. I guess we knew this was coming.

New Congressional Marijuana Bill Is Actually Numbered H.R. 420

https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomange.../#7138e3032e60

420, of course, is a special number for marijuana enthusiasts, who celebrate the plant extra hard every April 20.

The new bill filed in the House on Wednesday by Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) is titled the Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act. If passed, it would remove cannabis from the federal Controlled Substances Act.

“While the bill number may be a bit tongue in cheek, the issue is very serious. Our federal marijuana laws are outdated, out of touch and have negatively impacted countless lives,” Blumenauer said in a press release. "Congress cannot continue to be out of touch with a movement that a growing majority of Americans support. It’s time to end this senseless prohibition.”

Thank you Democrats.

Considering how much money is to be made, there will be Republicans jumping on board, too.

It would be great if it passed but the pants-in-a-twist republicans would never allow it.

Thank you! This is way overdue.

Those "pants-in-a-twist" Republicans are the only thing keeping the Democrats from turning this country into some kind of trendy social hippie experiment. The Republicans are the adults that keep the wild child Democrats in check. Thank god for that.

Good. Any wind down of the drug war is great news.
Need to expunge records for pot for personal reasons. (not for distributors)

I would not count on them agreeing on anything. Every since 2008, the party line has been to oppose everything across the board.

Public opinion might change it this time....MIGHT.

This bill would leave it to the States to decide if they want to allow it, or not, but it would remove the Federal restrictions.

Well past time, so many lives have been ruined for possessing a plant.

A voice in the wilderness. The same things I've said for awhile. As we legalize, dealers have and will continue to increasingly focus on selling to minors. As we learn more about the connection between marijuana and psychosis, among other things, people will someday look back at what we did with shame, particularly after it has become clear that we created a new equivalent of the tobacco industry to prey upon new generations with more potent drugs.
