Most undocumented immigrants didn't enter this country through Tijuana, where news cameras have captured images of thousands of immigrants seeking refuge during recent months.

And they didn't enter near the border town of McAllen, Texas, which the president visited Thursday during the 20th day of a partial government shutdown fought over constructing additional barriers on the Southern border.

Visa overstays have outnumbered people who enter the country illegally at the Southern border every year since 2007, according to a report by the Center for Migration Studies. The report's authors estimate that the number of total visa overstays was 600,000 more than the total number of border crossers and that in 2014, visa overstays accounted for two-thirds of all new undocumented immigrants.

If they are coming by plane, at least they get searched for smuggling drugs or human trafficking, get their fingerprints taken, their picture and name, and have a criminal background check. There is also a precise count and we know who these people are.
They do not have precise count of people crossing the border illegally.

Even the visa overstayers cross the border illegaly if and when they go home.

Some go back to get relatives, spend the money they made here etc. Then come back and do it again.

And when they do that they aren't flying..

From a cursory glance at the article, it appears to count only those apprehended crossing the southern border and common sense dictates that is far short of those who cross the border illegally.

So OP you're saying that reducing the number of ONE MILLION people coming here illegally every year (numbers are up for FY2018) is not something we should do? That does not even include the number that come here legally.

Okay, build a wall and deny visa applications.

Problem solved.

Exactly. And kick out those that overstay visas. And use e-verify.

Well then, guess theres no point in trying to stop millions more from walking across the border. Dumb logic.

Where did I say anything? As someone else said there is no way to accurately know the number of people who come in from the Southern border.

Wall isn’t going to stop them. Does someone need to repost pictures of tunnels the wall? Again.

So the Center for Migration Studies is down on the border documenting every single illegal alien that doesn't get caught, eh? They have no clue how many undetected illegal aliens successfully cross the border. More made up fake statistics.
